Congrats to him, and hopefully he'll work hard in the classroom to help our APR. It's unclear if the scholarship is just for this year or if he'll also receive it going forward, but either way, this is a good reward for someone who seems like very nice kid.

If it's just for this year, that's fine and a well-deserved honor.

If it's going to tie up a 'ship for 2-3 years because we don't think we can cash in on any of the big recruits, that's a discouraging sign.

UM how is this possible?!?!?!?!??!!?!?!?

This has nothing to do with recruiting. They're throwing the kid a bone.

This situation is definitely confusing. I like Brendan Allen and I would rather he be on scholarship this year then throw it away. That being said we need every single scholarship the next couple years to bring in the best players available. He has a great attitude so I hope he is fine going back to walk-on status next year. If he is on ship next year we only have 1 remaining scholarship to offer for 2013. That's assuming every player comes back

anyone? how is this possible? 2 ncaa ships for apr and 1 for miles right??? this is the last year of those?!?!! did the ncaa feel bad for us and give 1 back but still not let us in the tney even tho the rule we broke doesnt exist any more and so on....

Great kid and if we have an extra to give him my hat goes off to him- classy move. Nothing wrong with a free year of school.

Yes, I agree for this year but what about his final 2 years?

Is that a competition point or are you hammering on RJ's abilities? Both CT kids so I hope they both do well...........need them anyway of they're going to press and run!
A little bit of both. I Would love to see a former walk on turn scholarship player get minutes.

I think RJ's experience and toughness will help a lot though......good size for top of the press. Not to say Allen can't but he has a ways to go.......again, may need them both for minutes - foul trouble, injuries etc etc....
