No Rent? 36K for a friendly against Ecuador and second in the U.S. in TV ratings. Plus we have natural grass...I heard that's good for soccer. ;)
 
Don't feel bad. The Linc in Philly is in Kent County, Maryland. M&T Bank Stadium moved from downtown Baltimore to Charles County, Maryland apparently.
 
Charlotte is barely in NC, but that map design is as stupid as the venue selection. Ignoring the Pacific Northwest? Really? Think a game or two in Portland might step on FIFA's toes in Vancouver? Gimme a break.

Portland's regurgitated baseball stadium might have put a damper on its candidacy, but how would Portland step on FIFA's toes in Vancouver? Setting that aside, a game somewhere north of Carson, CA would have made good sense.

Seattle is a great venue and averaged almost 44,000 per game this past season.

BTW, have you been to Providence (formerly Jeld-Wen) Park? While it may be too small at 22,000, it is by no means a simple "regurgitated baseball stadium". It was renovated about 5 years ago into a scoccer exclusive facility and provides one of the singular soccer fandom experiences in the country.

It consistently ranks as one of the top MLS stadiums.

Seattle ... Field Turf with real grass laid on top probably ruled it out. Portland ... Yes, undoubtedly a good atmosphere, but still very clearly a regurgitated, minor league baseball park. Along with being small, the stadium structure likely did not help if Portland tried to host some Gold Cup games. We can agree to disagree regarding Providence Park.
 
My 8 year old can draw a map better than that. Looks like every listed city moved 100 to 200 miles away from its actual location. Gillette jumped 2 states over. Ontario was rotated eliminating Lake Huron and most of the UP of Michigan while putting Toronto in Lake Erie. The Meadowlands are now in either Kingston NY or Binghamton NY. Charlotte looks to be in Clemson's backyard now. Folks in Philly most be happy as they are now in tax free Delaware. Even Altanta, Chicago have moved.

Wait until FIFA gets sued by a family or two when their mother/father/child dies of a heart attack caused by the stress of attending a World Cup match in 120 F temps in Qatar.

Anyone can try to sue for stupid decisions, but winning's a different matter when the intended plaintiff makes stupid contributing decisions, e.g., choosing to attend a World Cup in *@#%^& Qatar in the summer. Not a good post.

It's no Sporting Park. It's not even Red Bull Arena. Games on turf suck.

Taylor Twellman leaked this week that Seattle is not happy with Centurylink, mainly due to field surface issues and being a second class citizen.

Perhaps you haven't heard, but there is a pretty big law suit involving that.

What about if the victim is player X's family who wanted to go see him play in a World Cup?

If Qatar had an actual, fair legal system, their Cup attempt would already be over due to the amount of money the organizers would have had to pay to the 400+ immigrant works who have already died on the job while building the venues and other related construction projects. And they have 7 some odd years left.
 
Soccer at Gillette Stadium is terrible because of the fake turf. The ball bounces more than a basketball. Painful to watch.
