I mean I agree, but I also recognize that this is a message board, and of course our opinions are buffoonish and will never actually impact the team. Does anyone other than Chief think differently?
I get it, it’s a message board. But none of us really know that it has zero impact. Stuff online travels, narratives build, and players do hear things. Acting like it’s all consequence free is a little too easy.

The comments in last nights' chat was nuclear waste level tripe.
There are just a couple of posters on chat speeing
crazy garbage out of all the people there. But they get the headlines and give chat a bad look.

Ironically I haven’t seen @JustbrewitMan in any of these threads, but the guy should be banned from ever entering a game chat after the absolute garbage he was posting in the game chat last night. If he’s in the chat on Sunday I will not be. Totally unacceptable crap he was spewing with personal attacks on our players (Mullins in particular)
I’ll come here and offer contrite public apologies. Those who see my posts here know I’m pretty damn level headed and measured.

Was under the influence last night and very very frustrated with what was going on. Was a horrible decision to head into the chat and vent.

I’m sure Mullins was probably more frustrated with his play than I was.

The reasonable day after take is that he’s running out of time to bring what we hoped/thought he’d bring to this team.

Hope he can flip the switch.

Sorry guys.

Fair on basketball criticism, shot selection and consistency are absolutely fair game.
But personal shots at a 19-year-old crosses the line. “Not NBA ready” is all hoop talk. Saying he doesn’t belong in the NBA when he hasn’t even declared is just forcing a narrative he never made.
Critique the play, not the person. That’s respect, not pearl-clutching.

I mean, that’s exactly what I said. And I get things travel online but again, please don’t pretend like what we say re: someone’s NBA potential or shot selection has any genuine impact on the real world. We’re all just clown posters saying stupid things

Yeah I’m thinking it was supposed to be closer to the 6-7 second mark. It would just be surprising to me if Mullins went off script like that after a timeout.

Just my guess, but they set up a play for man, Furman went zone, Mullins caught it and was open and clock was down to 10, he knew they didn’t have a zone play set up so he let it fly.

Omg stop

I guarantee not one player gives two shi s about what’s being said on social media. These guys are not made of tissue paper for gods sake.

Not a chance that’s what happened. More like he lost his mind and completely defied the play

And you know that how? GMAB

Question - and I'm not asking to be snarky or piss anyone off, but why do announcers keep going on and on about Braylon being an elite NBA prospect?

He's strong for his "size", but slender - seems slight for the rough and tumble NBA. He's an average 3 point shooter (32% - not even 1/3), and while he's a solid ball handler, good with assists, really good rebounder, how does his slender frame and average at best 3 point shooting make him a slam dunk for the NBA?

I get that there's a lot of debate about his going or staying - bottom line I assume he will explore his options and see where teams might commit to drafting him. If it's high enough, I'd guess he would jump. I get that the NBA will often draft on potential, but how is he ready now?

I guess either way him shooting on 1 pass was him losing his mind. But it looked like they set up a man play and furnan played zone unexpectedly.

Any team whose had any success has fans who create a toxic environment, especially in game chats. If you don't want to hang around negative s, don't jump into a chat...or see it for what it is.

I’ll tell you why. They’re anticipating him going 9 for 9 on 3’s at any moment. And he just might. He has a very pure stroke and a lightning release.

I haven't been in the chat in at least 2 years. I can't even imagine what it was like last night. I just screamed at the TV instead so nobody heard me and there is no record of my complaints. 😀

Last night was my first time in the chat all year. I jumped in and lasted a grand total of 20 seconds. It was comical how toxic it was.

So here’s my question.

If someone says a guy like Mullins isn’t ready for the NBA and the counter to that is NBA teams would rather have them develop there and in the G league than in college, then why even go to college for one year? What did this year really do for Mullins?

I think his body language was being frustrated at the fouls and not getting into a flow.
Hope Reibe understands that his mentor(Tarris) was having an all-time historic game rather than worrying about PT. Get ready for UCLA-We need you young fella.

As I have said before it’s comments from just a few, a small % of those on chat. Those comments are absurd and stand out often getting responded to with a whole back and forth ensuing.

Mullins fouled late in the game stepped up and hit both free throws. They were a perfect as one could shoot them. His 4 point issues are bizarre after watching him those 2 free throws. But to win we need everyone contributing in all phases and Braylon did that with his late D intercepting 2 passes. May his next game be a breakout shooting wise.

As I just said in another thread about him, progress is not linear and often regression occurs before a leap in improvement. It’s just at the bottom of a regression stage at a bad time. That all said, we allowed kids to get paid big money then put huge expectations on them. They aren’t mature enough for either and that’s why schools exist - finish intellectual development and develop maturity. What everybody thinks is so great for these kid is actually a massive disservice.
So let's not be rushing him to the NBA. Let's encourage him to stay and mature and develop.

Sorry guys.

Appreciate you owning it as it was a bad look. You’ve got Brew in your handle so I’ll believe you that you had a few too many. I think we all agree Mullins and Ball need to start making shots or we’ll be headed home soon. The only way this team makes a run is by getting hot from 3. Our whole offense is predicated on getting open looks and you can’t fault our offense because we got about 20 wide open looks from 3 last night. Can’t really blame Hurley, his offense is getting us high quality shots. Hoping these guys shoot their way out of their slumps, unfortunately especially for Mullins he needs to keep shooting wide open 3’s until they start falling.

Mullins had six assists against one turnover and a couple huge steals that kept us in control of the game. The three point shooting is obviously a mess but I thought he had his fingerprints on the game in other ways.

I just hope he finds his shot before we run out of time with it.
Well said. You'd think with all the basketball we watch we'd look for things besides scoring.

.-.
I think we are spoiled by the likes of Castle.
Mullins still just freshman. His shooting will come but these plays are so instinctual and you cannot teach…

Exactly that was an easy bucket because of him.

The “not NBA ready” talk especially feels misplaced. He’s 19. He never declared himself one-and-done that hype mostly came from the media, and with it came unreal expectations.
It actually came from his coach. Which the media then pushed because that's what his coach pushed.

All Mullins have to do is drain a bunch of 3s in the coming games, and all will be forgotten. He is an elite shooter, and he needs to show it in the biggest moments. It is as simple as that.

The comments in last nights' chat was nuclear waste level tripe.

I wasn't available last night for the chat. Tomorrow I'll be banning people on a whole wholesale basis if that shit continues.

Not sure what is going on with Reibe either. Noticed the BL myself.- I hope he didn’t think he was coming to UConn to take threes.
He looks lost, as opposed to the early season, when he was making plays and not fouling once per minute.
Maybe (as Dan Hurley seems to have hinted) his handlers have gotten him confused with talk about minutes, how he's being used, etc.
If that's the case he won't finish this season on a positive note for him or the team and that would be bad for him and the team!
