Braylon Mullins is Back!

when was the last time we had a 20ppg scorer? Mullins will be there this year.
Bouknight, and while I love a dude who can score in buckets I like having a well rounded squad more.

I never understood why Liam left
I've always thought it might have been a bit ego driven. He was #2 to Cooper Flagg on Monteverde and seeing all the attention Flagg got, wanted to show he was an NBA player too. Just my speculation. Given that he had an injury and was up and down in his one year at UConn, I thought it was a mistake then and still do now.

Probably wasn’t pushed as hard to stay. Hurley usually will tell a player when he thinks they should stay/leave as seen with Clingan, AK and now Mullins. It doesn’t hurt that next year’s freshman draft is much weaker too.

The game he had against Creighton was possibly the best individual game we had at UConn in several years.

Karaban vs. UCLA, Reed vs. Furman, Castle's huge game in the tourney, Sanogo v Creighton, Sanogo v. Alabama, Sanogo v. St Marys, Sanogo v. Miami are the only other ones I can think of that compete.

Liam was ready from a physical standpoint. His shooting wasn't ready. He shot poorly from 3 this year in the G league, but not a large sample.

Even at CT, Liam's 3-pt game wasn't good enough. Too much variance even before the ankle injury. He got bad advice from someone to leave early.

@Mister Wonderful Sorry my post brought you displeasure or confusion. To clarify it for you, because I thought my post was innocuous, I was not taking credit for the shot, but expressing how I felt and how happy I was that in both instances it came to be. I told my son to look for Mullins to take the last shot. By the most unlikely circumstance he actually got the shot and I was shocked and awed that it went in, just as everyone else was. Also pleasantly surprised he is returning. Perhaps you dislike that Mullins is returning and wants to go out on his terms as a champion?

Bouknight had one monster game against I believe Creighton as well

Also NIL has grown substantially year over year. It felt big last year. It feels huge this year. Nearly every mock had him going in the teens.

I accept your apology with that amazing clarification.

He definetly made a pact with his classmates to go into the draft together he was leaving no matter what.

Smart move.

“He’s not ready physically,” one NBA exec told ZAGSBLOG before his announcement. “And next year’s draft isn’t as strong. This year’s Draft is full of very good shooters.”

Jonathan Givony of Draft Express Tweeted: “Smart move by Braylon Mullins to return for sophomore season. Rated No. 27 on my board. Shot 34% from 3 and didn’t impact the game enough in other areas — 3.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.0 steal, 1.1 FTA per game. Needs to get stronger and more versatile on both ends.”

Hopefully after this season posters will let a season play out instead of just screaming "lottery/one and done" when others say pump the breaks a bit. I'm not even one of those guys who say everyone needs to comeback and stay but between his play and watching the other freshmen/underclassmen it became pretty clear that he wasn't ready yet and 2027 would probably serve him well.

Braylon and his Family made a smart decision. Playing the long game. Get Braylon 100% healthy. Work on SnC in off season for more strength/explosion. Knows what to expect with physicality of CBB after Year1. Tighten the handle. And let it rip. Money will follow.
