100% he needs the ball in his hands more. And I don’t just mean on the perimeter. He’s just as good at penetrating and getting that little midrange as anyone on the team - him and Solo are the only to do that consistently. AK has become more of an at-the-rim presence than a midrange aside from his deep threat.

.-.
I'd like to see him get 12 shots a game. 8 threes, 4 twos. Ish. Run the zoom and Iverson curls we did for Hawkins in '23.

Yes, please. Would also like to see him get the ball in more isolation sets and screen/roll actions. He reads/uses on-ball screens quite well and is an excellent passer. There's much more to his game than just a shooter. I'd argue that he's our most talented offensive player in a long, long time, and I think he is being underutilized.

Not just more involved like here's the ball do something, but a play where he can. Mr Basketball Indiana is coming back which means some home fans for him (and us) which helps.

Was going to see about a cheap flight and hotel but got the flu so gotta hunker down on my phone for this game.

Meme is meant for the last paragraph.

Playing Butler after our first loss of the BE. Might take the spread by 30.
If you actually read the article you'd see his dad is saying the exact things people have been telling you for months and you continue to push back on

Saw a few times earlier in season where Braylon was able to get the ball inside and saw some CamSpencer type craftiness. Other teams seem to be denying him that type of opportunity.

BM's parents are salt of the earth. Solid parents. Want the best for their son. Have always felt that they're not pushing BM to the NBA. Will be his call when the time is right.

On another note but related to BM. In his Butler pre-game media availability he mentioned he's working on overcoming the physicality of BE. He'll figure it out. Too smart. Continue to be impressed with his team-first attitude. A great teammate.

His dad went over all the talking points on this board from acknowledging he can be a late lottery, 20 pick and he can come back and possibly go top 5 next year.

He noted the 20s isn’t the worst thing that can happen. Maybe he’s in a rush to get generational money and want to be risk adverse which is understandable. But there’s a difference in teams investing in you like Portland and SAS did with Clingan and Castle. And them investing in you like NOP and CHA did with Hawkins and Liam.

His dad also noted it will be his choice.

He is so efficient and elite as a shooter. Can only imagine if he added an occasional shot fake to his bag. Unstoppable. Looked like Pitino took a quick first half TO to impress on his guys. If the ball is in his hands it's gone. Mitchell block happened shortly after TO.

You need to stop saying "BM"

I am sure Hurley and UConn will also help them navigate insurance options as well as NIL opportunities at UConn as the face of the program (which he would be). Injury risk is the main concern with not going to the NBA when you are a 1st round lock.

This injury conversation happens often with returning players, but who is the last one to come back and got injured to the point it hurt their draft stock?

I feel like I can’t recall a situation like this but I’m also probably not thinking very hard about it.

So if a decent team takes you at 15-22 they don’t care if y develop? Hawk was a lottery pick….hows that working out? Giannis and Kawhi taken 15, out of the lottery. If y show y have the skills teams will invest in y. If y can’t cut it at some point they move on.

The Nuggets even invested in that fat Serbian they picked 41st during a Taco Bell commercial.

They don’t care is a very extreme opposite end to go to.

Didn’t most players take out big insurance policies that got them paid in the event that they got injured. I’m sure the premiums aren’t cheap and it’s not nearly as much $ payout vs an NBA contract, but there was usually a safety net.

Would be a dream for him to return but I don’t see why he would. His biggest need is some more lbs but NBA trainers will put that on him in no time.

I feel like if he leaves this year teams will look at him as a shooter because of his role for this team.

If he comes back to be the guy in this offense with a few extra pounds to showcase he can be a franchise player level scorer, that’s what makes him a top 3-5 prospect.

It’s similar to the Castle is a PG or not conversation because of his underutilization here (that worked out for us anyways). Except with Castle he was able to force his way to play that position as a top 5 guy. You can’t force your way to be a franchise scorer in the late lottery and it’ll largely come down to what team he goes to and their belief in him.

.-.

I know it’s unlikely. Is there a 20 million injury insurance
policy that could make that happen for 1 more year? His father seems ok with him staying. He gets stronger and becomes a top 5 pick. Just wishin’ and hope’in.
