I didn't realize how many boards Tiff had , wow

Kaleena played more minutes than 3 of the starters! Who care who starts.

Geno shortens the bench, again. Uses basically 7 players.

I really didn't expect Buck, Johnson, or Engeln to be in this game. And not surprisingly they weren't.

I thought Buck might get a few minutes, just to mix things up, and see how she could handle it.

I think Buck would have been fine in the game defensively just like against Baylor last year.

Very interesting to see Stefanie with 32 minutes. Wow. Nice.

I must say, by looking at the woeful shooting %s I have to ask...was this a hard game to watch for non UConn/Stanford fans?

And not liking the short bench. Hope that improves...probably will.

Great win.

I thought the foul disparity would be greater, As noted on another thread, at a key point in the 2nd half, all the fouls seemed to be called on Stanford.

Buck can play somewhat effectively against Baylor, but not Stanford. She doesn't have the foot speed required to be in the Stanford game unless by necessity. Just my opinion.

Buck didnt play because UConn didnt get off to a good start... she couldnt have done anything to energize the starters and it was too close to "see what she could bring"

Bria and Kaleena shot a combined 18 for 33. All players not named Hartley or Mosqueda-Lewis shot 7 for 37. It happens

When your shooting is off by that much and you still win, it says something about your defense. And your grit.

Remember, style points are not awarded. Take the W and move on.

He inserted BBanks in the 1st half, and didn't like what he saw well enough to put her back in or it could have been 8. Banks will probably need a little more time (like most freshmen) before she's thrown in the deep end against top opponents. It will be interesting to see if she gets more PT against TAMU when they come to town

FTs, FTs, FTs. Left too many points at the stripe tonight. Great, great job taking care of the basketball, though.

imagine is 1/2 of those misses went in... BLOWOUT, so I can say UConn got the shots and my prediction would have looked great

Another indication of jacked adrenaline and needing more solid form in those moments.

I imagine it was. The first 5 minutes were hard to watch for UCONN/Stanford fans.

Stanford's defense is not going to force too many turnovers.

It was pretty ugly in the beginning. OTH - I couldn't believe the play of Kaleena and an excellent feature on at halftime showed her to be a really nice person also.

Both teams made some nice plays at time, I thought the UConn defense won it.

Probably right about that. As far back as I can remember, Stanford has not been a defensive pressing team. I assume that's part of Tara's philosophy re. Coaching.

Not sure they've ever had the team speed to be successful pressing. Tara seems to emphasize size over speed in recruiting.

UConn's offense the first couple of games didn't require a pressing D to create them. We did a lot of silly stuff against Pacific and HC that I didn't see against Stanford. Much smarter basketball.
