College Football Playoff Payouts By Conference for 2017-2018

Bowl Game Payout by Conference:

1. Big Ten - $89.5 million
2. ACC - $87.5 million
3. SEC - $70 million
4. PAC 12 - $62 million
5. Big 12 - $60 million

Notre Dame - $2.65 million

AAC - $4 million for The Group of 5 New Years Six Bowl

Group of 5 - All five share $81.32 million. It is shared equally for the most part with slight differences based on performance. Split five ways, this would equal $16.26 million for each of the five conferences.

AAC would receive around $16.26 million G5 Payout plus the $4 million Peach Bowl Payout this year for a total of around $20.26 million.

Army, BYU and UMass share $928,503.

Based on these numbers, UConn's share of 1/12 of $20.26 million would equal $1.69 million minus any money withheld for the conference itself. This is higher than most years thanks to an AAC team making the G5 New Years Six Bowl. The MAC got that money last year.

So we will receive an extra $1.69 million +/-. That's better than nothing. It will help pay RE's contract.

So ND got less than a million more than Uconn. And less than any P5 school. Damn.

ND has a zillion dollar until infinity contract with NBC. They’re not worried about bowl game payouts.

Per Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News, P5 conference bowl & CFP payout per school...

Big 12 - $31 million
Big 10 - $27.3 million
PAC 12 - $26.1 million
SEC - $25.3 million
ACC - $22.9 million

The word is that the 2015-25 NBC renewal is for $22 million per year. The old 2010-15 contract was for $15 million.

Even at the higher figure, ND could make much more TV money as a Big Ten or ACC full member. It just doesn't want to, not at the cost of football independence.

That $2.65 million is just a check from the playoffs, not a bowl that ND played in.

The $8.5 million that it received from the Citrus Bowl went to the ACC. ND gets a full 1/15 bowl share as part of the division of bowl payouts by the ACC, since it played in that bowl as part of the ACC bowl rotation.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was worried.

Just for clarification, those numbers are the CFP total over four years. The average annual payout per school for the ACC is $5.725M.
