Bouknight is something special

I hope he finally found his stroke from 3. Been tough on him with the injuries and COVID layoffs to get it in rhythm. I hate the phrase “he can score from three levels” but if his 3 is on I don’t know how a college player can defend him.

Bouknight’s currently at 20.2 points per game on the season.

The only other UConn sophomores to average 20+ points per game (since 1986):

Ray Allen (1994-95) - 21.1 ppg
Richard Hamilton (1997-98) - 21.5 ppg
Caron Butler (2001-02) - 20.3 ppg

Yeah, I’d say he’s pretty special.

Agreed - his hesitation is pro-quality and makes him nearly unguardable. I’d allow him to take that pull up mid-range J all day long, and his finishing ability at the rim is ridiculous. Having him back is forcing teams to put multiple guys on him both on the perimeter AND in the lane. Despite that he’s still getting his 20ppg. With everyone else starting to step up, if Bouk takes what’s given to him and doesn’t try to force everything himself we are going to be in for a very fun postseason!

I think you mentioned this in regards to Gaff but it applies to Bouk(amongst others) too: Between Covid and injuries James hasn’t had a normal season to develop. Granted, he doesn’t really need to ‘develop’ but imagine what he would be doing without all the stoppages. Kid’s a baller to the highest degree.

Bouk up to 29 minutes yesterday. In crunch time tourney games I think he plays 35.

I think it's closer to 32- two separate two minute breaks. One around 14 minutes and bring him back in after the under 12 min TO.

Take him out around 5-6 min mark and bring him in at the under 4.
