Latest mock from the Athletic's Vecenie. Bouk #10, that kid Daishen Nix (Cali kid) did not do himself any favors going Developmental. He's listed at #38. The Champagnie twins are accounted for on this list with Julian (Johnnies) at #46 and his brother #52. Providence's Duke is sandwiched in between the twins. Here are his top 35 below. Also fan fav, Bones Hyland at #28.

1. Cade Cunningham, Oklahoma State
2. Evan Mobley, USC
3. Jonathan Kuminga, G League Ignite
4. Jalen Green, G League Ignite
5. Jalen Suggs, Gonzaga
6. Ziaire Williams, Stanford

I highly recommend Vecenie’s writing and podcast to any draftniks out there- great stuff

Nix is actually a native of Alaska, but played high school ball in Vegas and was committed to UCLA. It is odd not to see any international players in the top 20, but there are three guys between 20-30 that could easily slide up. Outside of the top 5 there really is not a ton of consensus in this draft. Obviously I’m super biased, but I would have Bouknight #6 on my board

I have zero insight into any particular player in this draft, but wouldn't it be rare if there wasn't a single foreign player in the top 20? Usually there are several, no?
Maybe usually have a a couple higher but there's still 6 or 7 in his first round, same as last year. Franz Wagner is German.

He's #50 on that board.

Big East players on that list:
  • #10 - Bouk
  • #41 - Robinson-Earl
  • #46 - Champagnie
  • #48 - Duke
  • #53 - Mamu
  • #89 - Zegraowski
  • #90 - Scruggs
  • #105 - Garcia
  • #111 - Moore
  • #118 - Weems
Deep cuts who I've really enjoyed watching
  • #43 Derrick Alston, Boise State: 6'9 190 forward: He just looks like Durant/Gervin. Rail-thin but crafty, smooth handle, great shot (42.1 3p%) and was the team's leader in assists his junior year. Not a single D1 offer out of high school, worked his way from walk-on to Boise's alpha.
  • #66 Taevion Kinsey, Marshall: 6'5 185 lead guard: Would be dark-horse 1st round candidate if his defense was stronger. A do everything lead-guard offensively. Stats are often bloated in D'Antoni's system, but efficient too: 56.4 fg%, 44.4 3p%.
  • #76 RaiQuan Gray, Florida State: 6'8 260 PF: Watching a guy that big bring the ball the court is such fun to watch. Bit of a YMCA game to him, do a little bit of everything. Strong and crafty.
  • #79 Jason Preston - Ohio: 6'5 185 PG: Averages a near triple-double and has a two-way game. Just a really smooth, hard-nosed kid who earned his way where he is even without a single D1 offer out of HS.
  • #103 Andre Curbelo, Illinois: 6'1 175 PG: One of the most poised and confident freshman I've seen in a long time. Steady, tough, smooth: just needs to work on his 3p shot (13%). I don't really see a long NBA career with him, but a very fun player to watch in the B10.

Let’s root for a great situation and not a number in the draft order.

Would LOVE him to land on the Thunder with UConn alumni Coach Daigneault. He and SGA would be a nice backcourt together.

Other landing spots I love:
Knicks: He and Quickley could be a great combo for years plus Thibs has somewhat turned that franchise around.
Grizzlies: Really underrated franchise and they are stacked with quality players. Ja and Bouk. Yes please.
Spurs: For obvious reasons they are such a buttoned up organization but do have a lot of wing depth with Murray, Derozan, Gay, Keldon Johnson and Lonnie Walker.

If we have a ridiculous husky-like March, Bouk could play himself into the Top 5.
Had there been no pandemic, the way things were trending, I think there would have been a strong chance this could have happened last year. Not Top 5 per se but he might have tested the waters after a good Big East and NCAA showing.

I foresee a team trading up to grab Bouknight. I think he goes 5/6
