Second, BC isn't taking themselves down with this move... if UConn gets reduced to non BCS status (along with RU) but BC has auto BCS conference status where do you think New England and NJ recruits are going to go?

While BC will have the BCS advantage there are tons of other factors that go into recruiting including facilities, #winning, coaching staff, hot escorts (see Tennessee), academic programs, etc. As examples TCU has consistently recruited better than Baylor (save RG3), same with Boise St. over Washington State. I also think the grass isn't always greener on the other side. It's early days, but Utah is already struggling in the PAC12 and BC football and basketball have gone downhill since joining the ACC.

The reason I want to badly get into ACC is because of the annual payout and the programs that will be on our schedule. Even in a down year, Syracuse, Maryland and North Carolna will sell more seats at The Rent than a strong USF or Cincy would. From a competitive standpoint I really dont think we will suffer that badly in the leftover Big East.

I never bought the, "We were insulted that UConn sued us." line as anything more than a red herring. Before the BE was 'saved,' UConn suffered real damages to the tune of $150 million for the Rent and other expenses based on the commitments that there would be a viable BCS-AQ Big East Football Conference. BC, you're darn right you were sued, and you should have been thankful that you got off cheaply. Especially, after BC did the double reverse backstab with a twist. Whatever UConn's fate may be, yours will always be that of a Providence College in nicer pajamas.

Karma is a bitch. i hate to say it, but the whole lawsuit thing and the fact that the CT politicians got involved is hurting UCONN at this point. anyone who still thinks we should pursue legal action is not thinking clearly. the previous legal maneuvering did zero to stop Miami, VT and BCU from leaving the big east. all it did was poison them against UCONN in the future. now we are paying the price for that short sighted decision years back. it's really too bad. i really hope we don't end up in a glorified C-USA conference.

The lawsuit has nothing to do with it. Pitt was a part of the lawsuit and was just as vocal about it as UConn--and it didn't hurt them. This is all about BC not wanting UConn to completely bury them in New England. The lawsuit has nothing to do with this.

There are so many quotes from Defillippo that are just so dumb, that it's hard to fathom how this guy hasnt' dug his own grave yet.

Claiming the northeast as BC's turf? All evidence to the contrary. Avoiding a natural rivalry taht can only help his own programs get more exposure that's fallen through the floor in recent years? And doing it while associated with AD's for schools like Duke, WF, UNC, NC State, who absolutely thrive on the rivalry that a local opponent brings?

And most damaging? Claiming that ESPN was involved? That's going to make a lot of people in positions of power REAL happy - not.

I agree, the lawsuit is convenient thing to assign blame. The only thing that makes any sense is that BC is clinging to some kind of hope that doing whatever can be done to potentially damage UConn athletics is better for their athletic programs in the long run, than what could be attained by actually getting back into the arenas and on the fields and competing.

When you look at what it's all about really - college football - and that's money - the concept of blockign uconn to the acc by boston college is completely ludicrous.

Big roll of the dice they're making at BC.

i do get that, but what about Miami and Va Tech? if UCONN was their original 2nd choice over PItt, but they decided to go with PItt instead, was it only because of BCU, or did the other schools feel UCONN was more culpable in the whole lawsuit thing than Pitt? i just dont' know at this point...

The difference is Pitt's football history. I am guessing the southern football powers (FSU and Clemson) were more than happy to switch Pitt for UConn because of the Pitt football name (it has nothing to do with on field performance, but Pitt is a historic football school while UConn is still a 'basketball school' to the southern football schools).

I simply don't buy it. The things Cuse bigwigs and Pitt bigwigs said about BC outdid anything UConn was reported to have said.
