I've said before, kevin Ollie is the luckiest guy around. he ought to take every penny he has and go to Mohegan Sun and put it all on 5. He'll probably make a fortune. But he has a pretty manageable schedule(even the Big East helped out by scheduling PC, USF and Depaul rather than Syracuse, Pitt and Georgetown as home-home), with in reality a pretty good team, not a lot of depth, but top notch guards ( a huge deal in college basketball) and experienced players, several of whom had played for a national champion, so he does about what he should do and he's a hero for "over-achieving." He gets a pass on recruiting because of his contract, and when that gets resolved, he gets yet another pass because of the conference situation. And next year he'll get a pass because we have new uniforms or some other reason.

A perfectly rational case can be made, and has been made, that UConn should have spoken to established coaches outside the program before committing to Ollie (of course, you don't know that they didn't). Just to be clear, the aforesaid post was not such a rational case.

Suddenly now their doing what they should be doing? This team should have beaten MSU and Syracuse? I'm sorry, while Shabazz and Boatright are a very good backcourt in their own right, the interior was devastated. When you consistently get outrebounded to the level we do, you have no right to win 19 games, even with the easier in conference schedule that we had.

I just can't imagine chalking up Kevin Ollie's current position to simple luck. He earned the respect of his peers and, most importantly, Jim Calhoun over many years. That's why he is where he is.

As for the team's luck, Duffy had a breakdown of this year's close games -- 15 of them. UConn's record in those games is 8-7. If the team, and Ollie, were merely lucky, that record would be 11-4 or 13-2 or something. We lucked out a bit on conference scheduling, sure, but we have 19 wins and we haven't even played two of the games supposedly the result of "lucky" scheduling.

More like luck if you take into consideration the Marquette officiating, SN injury in Ville game which hampered him in Pitt as well and the GT injury which impacted GT and Cincy games.

And EW doing his crud and OC with the wrist and NG with the finger. Yes this stuff happens through out sports but anyone touting luck as the reason for this teams success is not looking at the entire picture.

As for you and me we have three options. Accept him, reject him or ignore him.

Since it's obvious he's not going to leave the onus is on us to decide how we want to deal with him. Those that reject him have tried to debate him, reason with him, criticize him, condemn him or isolate him. And yet none of those attempts have changed him one iota.

So rejecting him is futile. That means there are only two logical choices: accept him or ignore him. I do both. I start to read one of his posts and as soon as I see where he's heading my mind says etc. etc and so on. In other words I stop reading. He's predictable. I'm looking for creativity from him. Most of the time there's none. His objective isn't meant to bring an insight to this forum. His objective is to create an unpleasant experience for us. And every time we engage him he gets confirmation that his mission is accomplished. I'll occasionally respond to him just to confirm my thoughts, but for the most part I've learned to not be bothered by him anymore than I'm disturbed by a two year old who is crying because he can't get his mom's teat.

Keep in mind Kevin Ollie has played with Lebron James and Kevin Durant. As far as recruiting goes, im sure high school kids would love to hear those stories.
