I’ve been exploring websites like Wattpad, Inkitt, Ko-fi, and a few others to share my writing. With that said, I’ve been disappointed by sites that seem to promote stories with AI-generated covers that strike me as very tacky. But they have hundreds of thousands or even one million+ views. But it makes me wonder: if that’s the level of effort going into the cover, what effort goes into the writing? Since I haven’t read anything on Wattpad or Inkitt yet, I can only assume these are the stories that all new users are shown. How is a legitimate author just starting out supposed to compete?
I’m looking for a solid place to share my own work and read what others have created. So far, the best I’ve found is writing.com. The community has been really supportive, and I’ve received some lovely feedback, though the UI definitely feels very outdated, more late 1990s/early 2000s than modern.
Any thoughts or suggestions from those familiar with these platforms?
