What did you buy to hand out?

What're your favorite candies or treats?

I was absolutely dumbfounded to see our bucket of treats filled up with cheez ballz packets. There's like three cheez ballz in each packet and I have a bucket of like 100 of them. I have no idea what Mrs. Diesel was thinking buying them, but I am certain no matter how right I am in critiquing and ridiculing her choice, that conversation will not end up to my benefit. Only good thing is the wrapper looks pretty normal so a kid just reaching in to the bucket at night won't know their disappointment right away.

Mod Note: Please don't say where you live.

Dont be the person who:
leaves the basket of candy outside with a "take one" sign, turns off the lights and watches TV in their room. Stop being scared of humans. The pandemic is over.
In defense, I live in a house on a main road on the corner of the three-way stop sign with no sidewalk, so the only people who have stopped by our house for trick-or-treating has been my sister's kids via car. My neighborhood is an awful area for trick or treating, so we don't purchase anything.

Favorite candies:
  • Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
  • Starburst
  • Almond Joy/Mounds
  • Hi-Chew
  • Haribo gummies

Yes. There is always a "don't die" exemption to that rule.

And Hi-Chew fruit flavors are the most accurate fruit profile of any candy. Take note RUNTS

Our house doesn't get trick or treaters so we take the kids out in my in-laws neighborhood. But we did get some big bags of stuff from Costco for trunk or treat the next night.

The best are
Reese's cups
Butterfinger
Peanut m&m
And for the sweet stuff give me nerds clusters.

I live in a drive-in neighborhood in Stamford. The North Stamfordites who live on twisty, winding dark roads descend on my area, create traffic (and associated dangerous walking conditions) and their obnoxious kids, litter my yard with wrappers and literally walk into my foyer when I open the door. We buy about 150 pieces of candy and we usually get 175 trick or treaters, 80% of whom live at least two miles away. Fun night.

Live on in newtown and Halloween is cray cray here. Bought $550 candy from Costco and expecting over 3000 - 3200 tricksters. The whole scene is a blast. Main Street is basically a big block party starting around 3 -4 pm. Local restaurant serves pizza slices and street drinks and everyone gets into the decorating

I give out full size candy bars just to make my neighbors look bad.

We know the real reason you have the full size bars.

This year we mostly have Sour Patch Kids and Nerds. Wife tries to avoid the things we'd actually want to eat if left over. We used to get maybe 50-60 kids, but lately neighbors kids have invited their friends to trick or treat in our safe circular neighborhood. So we have more than we need.

Necco Wafers, Mary Janes and Bit'o'Honey is our go to. For some reason we get less kids every year when everyone else gets more. Not sure why?

In reality, we get less kids than we used to because neighborhoods in my town are cyclical. We're now the street with high school and college aged kids. I usually get a couple mixed packs of Reese's type stuff and a couple non-chocolate, non-peanut for the allergy kids. I start off giving two bags and work my way up as I see we aren't going to run out.

We live in a Halloween mecca. Small city with row homes on closely arranged blocks. The kids go down just a few streets and end up with tons of stuff. To hand out, we have assorted chocolate candy, ring pops, cookie packs (Oreos, chips ahoy), Pringles cups, and goldfish, stickers, and bubbles, mainly for the littlest ones.

My nightmare Halloween candy from childhood are those small rock hard peanut butter taffys that came in the plain orange or black twisted wrappers.
