Can you imagine the double standard if the AAC capitulated? It declined UConn (a Charter member) for football only, but accepts Boise because of its football history. Irony & deja vu.

[Shrugs] Boise St. is better football product. Taking that without being stuck with it's basketball is a good deal for them. Just the opposite was true for UConn, and it set a bad precedent to let a league member out of its all sports commitment.

UConn’s chances of keeping FB in the AAC were Greatly Diminished by having a poor football program during your stint in the conference.

If UConn had excelled in FB the AAC would have had to swallow it’s pride and keep FB.

Good for the A A and Boise if they can work out a Western division for the AAC.

For Uconn, being indy for now is the best thing. It will get us better schedules in the long run, and it will get us a chance to build up our media credentials over time assuming our football program can be improved.

What is going to lure good programs to come to Ct. and end up with a better schedule? If you want to be Indy and hit the road for money and get hammered that's one thing, but I can't see better programs lining up to come to Ct.

Lot's of B1G and ACC alumni in the Northeast and several P5 programs have already come to the Rent. Not sure what your definition of "good programs" is but on the future schedule we've got Purdue, Syracuse, BC, Fresno State, Liberty, Duke, NC State, Utah State, Army, Maryland . . . I think if UConn improves significantly over the next couple of seasons we'll see better programs.
