Zanetto!​

Actually, this is a good podcast. Hard to be critical of anything that gives us a chance to hear from Boat. My favorite parts:

Zanetto: "Where would you fit in on the existing team? Would you be coming off the bench?"

Boat: "I ain't coming off no bench!"

Also, when Zanetto asked Boat if Coach Calhoun would ever be critical of a player during the game, and Boat said "Oh yeah. He'd be throwing some F bombs in there as well and some Em Effers. I feel as if the people who sat right behind the bench paid extra for the Calhoun show."

Boat says we may be missing the get me a buck player right now, but Solo or Silas could be become it.

Can we get to the ultimate goal without such a player ?

We got to the ultimate goal in '23 without it. Sanogo could get us a bucket when we threw it into him but so can Tarris. Hawkins was catch and shoot, he needed others to screen for him and pass it to him in his shooting pocket. Jackson couldn't score. Silas is a better version of Tristen in '23.

I think we got our back to backs without one.

Boatright may be thinking from old basketball perspectives with that one. I don't think there's a lot of “go get a bucket” type of players these days.

He for sure was one of them though. Could've averaged 20+ a game his senior year if he wanted to.
 
Yeah Ray, Kemba, Ben, Rip were definitely we need a bucket so clear out guys. Okafor was good too around the rim.

I don’t think we have a clear out bucket maker who drives for the layup.

We are more opportunistic with AK put backs, Mullins catch 3, Tarris hand off, etc.

Hence why we run long offensive sets to find the best high pct shot. Doesn’t always work but on balance we get more than we allow.
