Blauds: AAC Wants A Seat At Main CFB Table

“We’ve tried to go out and schedule major Power 5s across our scheduling system all the way out with the hopes that this would give us the opportunity to go play some really good teams. And losses won’t kill you when you start talking about top 12. You’ve got to have a powerful schedule and go play good teams.”

If Kirby is right...then the old bugaboo of SOS ruling will still play in...

Other "takes"..

This 12-team proposal also could make for some bigger non-conference games. Powerhouse A wouldn’t doom its season with a loss to Powerhouse B, and might lock up a playoff spot with a win. That’s a better equation than the current risk-averse, can’t-lose-to-anyone formula.

....

Yes, the Southeastern Conference would love this. It deserves it. Texas A&M had a case to be in last season’s four-team playoff. A second-game trip to Tuscaloosa knocked the Aggies out of it. The rest of the supposedly meaningful regular season turned out to be meaningless, even though A&M never lost again. Florida and Georgia also would have gotten in last season under this format. Is that really so bad?

It also means that other conferences will get SEC teams on their schedule. So we will find out every year which conference is the best.

Not only SOS, but number of games. The Big 12 has been affected by their smaller conference and weaker OOC scheduling when it comes to CFP selection. It will be harder for an indy with only 12 games (no CCG) to get a bid, especially with a loss in the record.

future schedules....these two SEC programs caught my eye

Georgia....Clemson (four games), Oregon, Oklahoma (H&H), UCLA (H&H), Louisville (H&H), FSU (H&H), Texas (H&H)

Alabama....Miami, Texas (H&H), FSU (H&H), Wisconsin (H&H), Ohio State (H&H), Notre Dame (H&H), Oklahoma State (H&H), WVU, USF (2 for 1), BC (H&H), Arizona (H&H), VT (H&H)

LSU will be playing FSU, UCLA, Clemson, Oklahoma in H&H's. Their schedules are not as complete as Bama's and Georgia's

They knew this was coming, and are getting ahead of the schedule.

Glad we are finally seeing some good inter-conference match ups vs. ESPN anointing SEC the best football conference before start of the season while conferences like the AAC gets no respect.

Probably won't happen, but there is hope the new system will help break up the current caste system that's in place.

Now he's hoping for a seat at the kiddie table.

More like he's looking for a carton that is can be flipped over and kinda sorta used as a seat.

The AAC plans to act as an aggressor, multiple high-ranking sources within the conference tell The Athletic. “We plan to pursue this harder and more diligently than any of our efforts to date. At this moment our crack AAC team is working on a 10 page letter which will explain why teams across the country should join a conference with the worst media deal imaginable, literally pennies on the dollar of what they are currently receiving.

Hopefully USF isn't in charge of spell check after their fiasco at the Big 12 begging show.
