Really good, but I need to see it a second time. Don't buy a big soda.... there's a scene with heavy rain and waves of water and I had to get up to pee.

I like how San Diego is an abandoned wasteland, but it would have been funnier if it was New Jersey.

I enjoyed it. The story has surprises and is well told. It is also very true to the original. But at 163 minutes, it definitely could have been tightened an lost none of its punch.

I liked it. Very faithful to the original theme, but with more action.

Pretty good! But unfortunately there was no market for it, leading to its failure to make up costs at the box office. This seems to happen a lot with followups to cult classics. The fans of a cult classic are enthusiastic, but not too numerous.

They should have re-released the original at the same time.

It seems like there isn’t much of a market for big budget blockbusters inside the US. Unless you have a big brand name like Star Wars or Marvel.

A lot of the block buster audience is 6-14 years old. Women Woman and Despicable Me get multiple views by the kids and the tweens. Blade Runner draws from a much smaller pool.

I saw the original and it was boring and slow with just a few redeeming scenes.

What other comparisons can you make to Blade Runner 2049?

I enjoyed Equilibrium, Logans Run, Demon Seed, Mad Max (not so much 1 and 2 but especially 3 and 4), Ex Machina, Akira, Running Man, The Adjustment Bureau, clockwork orange, V For Vendetta and Minority Report and those types, as far as dystopias. So would BR2049 be worth seeing in that case? Or is it more of the same as BR the original or like soylent green (another super boring one).

It's been years ago, but I wasn't blown away by the original Blade Runner. BR2049 I thoroughly enjoyed, FWIW. It was fairly slow paced, but kept my interest throughout. I liked most of the movies you've listed above.
