2013-2014 season preview. A single mention of UConn or a UConn player.

It's on ESPN Insider: http://insider.espn.go.com/mens-col...on-college-basketball-opus-college-basketball

Not in his top 16 teams, no one in his top players, Bazz not in top 6 PGs, no one in top 12 defenders, no one in top 6 passers, no one in top 8 shooters, no one in top 15 undervalued or underappreciated players (some examples, Dez Wells, Perry Ellis, Jakarr Sampson), no impact transfers, no one on his dream team of 13, no nothing.

It is from last season and we know how that went :-)

I like Bilas a lot and usually he's accurate and insightful but this year he completely missed the boat on us, don't really remember him saying one positive thing about us this season. The weird thing is normally he's not Duke biased but most of the season he was talking them up as the best team. Hey even the good ones can be completely wrong sometimes.

It wasn't until Jay Bilas covered our game @Memphis, the 17th game of the season, that he even began acknowledging Shabazz as a great player.

"are you kidding me? how did he hit that shot?" Bilas they're the same step back jumpers and hesi's that he's been making for the past year and a half. tbh Bilas has basically turned into a one note character focused on the NCAA. I have no issue with him hammering Emmert and the NCAA but from listening to him cover the game lately it doesn't seem like he watches as much film as he did in the past.

He changed conferences, doesn't do the same games, Raff is gone, ESPN has him watching other conferences. It's an AAC problem.

I am glad you are outraged. May Senhor Testiculo visit Bilas at night and give him a case of whatever afflicts Irving Zisman.

To be fair, I missed that you were talking about last season because I couldn't imagine why anyone would be getting upset now about what someone said before last season.

To his defense we weren't in any tourneys the prior season. There wasn't much to go on.

Yup, we switched conferences and it was clear he didn't pay any attention to us all season, i would have expected him to have done his homework.

not really referring to just that UConn game in regards to my overall assessment of him, he's fallen off as a studio/game analysis guy, its alot of cliches and generalities coming out of him when discussing teams and players.

Yeah, I had a memory of him being complimentary of Shabazz during that game. Then I watched your highlights of the game, and it was almost comical how he slobbered over him. Pretty sure he said "Are you kidding me?" and "How do you defend that?" multiple times referring to shots Shabazz hit.

You have to forgive him the Duke thing, at the time he hadn't seen Mercer.

I believe ESPN Insider charges around 3 bucks a month for its wisdom. Readers are entitled to $2.75 rebate per month.
Bilas must be using his money to buy hair growth products; the result is obvious.

I personally always considered him more of a strategy analyst, most interesting at half time or during post game commentary, but I think insightfulness has fallen off a bit in these areas. His evaluation of talent has never impressed me, just kind of reads the ESPN script.

Didn't realize he had Duke #1. Wow. They lose as a 3 seed in the 1st round. To a team that loses to a play in team the next round by almost 20 points. Other than making history or losing in 1st round as a #2 seed (which they did a couple years earlier) he couldn't have been more wrong on Duke. He picked UConn to lose 6 straight times in the tournament. I remember his comments after UConn won something to the extent "I'm not sure they are the best team but they are the toughest" - gee Jay I thought that little thingy called the NCAA Tournament determined who the best team was. He wrote a book on "toughness" and missed the recognizing the toughest team since the Kemba team sitting right under his nose - until they won it all.

If Jay saw us coming last season he should have gone to Vegas- he would be rich.
We were banned the year before - moved to a doo doo conference and really had done nothing to attract notice.
I know it is the off season but I am saving up all of my outrage for the constant slights I am expecting in the 2014-2015 season.

In no particular order.

No respect for Boat.
KO was a fluke because he had JC's players.
The loss of Bazz,DD and NG will be our downfall and is too much to make up.
We will not be ranked- but Dook will lose it's first 2 conference games and move up three spots.
SMU could sweep us again.

The talking heads can say what they want- I have only one response -"SCORE BOARD". They can all bite me.

It is a faux outrage thread, but I think it is also telling that in the main body of the preview, there is not a single mention of the eventual national champion, no mention of a senior point guard (it's not like he came out of the blue). In other words, these previews are not worth much. The preview is also pretty heavy on the New Big East.

UConn was ranked 17 last preseason and then 18 going into the Tournament, coming of their worst loss of the year. NO ONE except UConn fans expected UConn to go anywhere last year.

Even then, those of us (yes, including me) who were predicting Final 4 last October backed way off after the Christmas Massacre in Texas.

Jay Bilas has generally rated UConn very fair. He got a prediction wrong. Big F*<king whoop. You understand that Bilas moonlights for ESPN, right? He's does have a day job. I'm willing to give him a pass.

Holy cow.

I am OUTRAGED that the Huskies won the national title even though Jay Bilas didn't write about our team enough back in November.

Bilas is usually pretty good. Now that ESPN signed Battier as an analyst, they only need a SG and a C to make a Duke starting 5.

You know ESPN is staffed significantly by Duke and Syracuse grads, possibly a reason for the over-the-top promotion of the Duke-Syracuse games.
