I usually respect Jay's opinions and think he's one of the few ESPN analysts out there who has something always worth reading. Dickie V is senile, Lunardi doesn't understand the game and Gottlieb has his own agendas.

That being said, i didn't renew my ESPNINSIDER subscription when it expired last year and haven't missed it much. Anyone care to summarize what he said about us in his latest column? Based on some of his tweets last week, he seems to think we have top talent but we don't play with effort all the time. When we do, like the second half vs. Cinci he seems to think we're one of the best teams in the country.

I don't see anything about Bilas' top 68. All I see is a column "Syracuse's success fueled by its depth" posted on January 21 which doesn't mention UConn. Have a link?

Oh never mind, it has UConn at 18. Says we need Boatright, can't win with our frontcourt playing as it has been. Need to run set plays to completion.

He has us ranked 18th and then essentially says that we need Boatright back for his scoring, need more production from out post players, and we need to run our offense more instead of going 1 on 1. Until then, we're just a really talented, inconsistant team.

Forget Bilas.

UConn is playing like an 8/9 seed.
2-3 on the road and 2 losses to teams with an RPI over 100.
Wins over Florida State and West Virginia are the best wins by far. Then Harvard.
A win over ND at home leaves the pups with some work to do in February.

The first 4 Feb games are the key. Will Boatright be back before 2/11?

Yes, I agree. Based on what we've done so far I'd assume we're an 8 or a 9 at the moment. Not quite a bubble team yet, but certainly the potential to become one if we continue down this path. I would rank our wins in this order:

FSU
WVU
@ND
Harvard
Arkansas

Solid wins...but we'll probably need a big win or two vs. a Syracuse or a Georgetown to secure a bid.

This team season will be defined on what they do in February - the toughest part of the schedule and priming for March. To date, it's been extremely forgettable. All could be easily turned around if the light bulb goes off and they get some big wins.

Kind of like 09-10 if we hadn't lost that back-breaker to Louisville...
