Big Ten Tournament (Mar. 4-8)

Pulliam and Scheid are having really poor games. Burton and Hamilton are trying to carry NW, but it's too much Naz Hillmon in this game.

Michigan gets a lucky bank-shot 3 for the dagger.

I don't know if this is a major upset. I mean, Michigan is at least an NCAA tournament team. Better than losing to the likes of Alabama, Wake Forest, Washington and Cal.

Correct. The Big 10 has been a monster this season. It will be interesting to see how all the other teams will fare in the NCAA tournament besides Maryland.

Hadn’t had a chance to watch Northwestern until tonight... whoops, guess it was a bad night to start. Upset by UM.

Ha, now they will know who brought them their bad luck.

They just had a bad game. It happens. Michigan is a decent team and they deserved the win.

Ohio St. jumping all over Iowa out of the gate 16-3.

Yeah, I'm sorry but Maryland's supposed to get a #1 seed. They went 2-2 against Northwestern, which just lost to Michigan, and Iowa, which is down 22-3 to Ohio State.

What the heck Iowa? 69-39 approaching end of Q3.

I know the UConn fans want to go to the Ft. Wayne region and keep their Final 4 streak alive. But with the #2 and #3 seeds in the Big 10 losing, Maryland will have to beat Indiana and Ohio State/Michigan to win the tournament. Those would still be Quad 1 wins. UConn will not have a Quad 1 win in the AAC tournament (I believe). Maryland deserves the #1 seed if they win the Big 10 championship.

I don't care about regions; UConn's not likely to win the title this year. I just don't see what Maryland has done that deserves a #1 seed. They have two good wins IMO, both at home, over Northwestern and Indiana. They lost to the two best teams they played.

But they still have better wins, and a higher quantity of good wins, than UConn.

And UConn has lost to the 3 best teams they've played and have one good win over DePaul, so how are they deserving of a #1 seed over Maryland exactly?

To be fair, Ohio State also qualifies as a Top 25 win, but I absolutely agree with this sentiment. UConn just doesn't have enough on their resume for me to qualify as a #1 seed ahead of Maryland or Louisville. If UCLA wins the Pac-12 Semi-Final, I see them also leaping UConn.

If Uconn gets credit for their win over Ohio St., Maryland beat them twice so that puts the Huskies even further behind.

Absolutely true, I just wanted to point out that they have more than one good win if we qualify a Top 25 RPI Team as a good win these days.

Did I say UConn should be a #1 over Maryland? Hmm, I missed that....

UConn didn't just lose to the three best teams they played, incidentally. They lost to the three best teams in the country.

Okay, who would you rather be a #1 over Maryland? Louisville? Regardless of who is #1, Maryland is clearly ahead of UConn on the S-Curve, which dictates UConn being shipped West, especially if results hold tonight.

You saying that UCLA clinched a #2 tonight by winning and NW losing?

It will depend on what North Carolina State does in the ACC Tourney. If NC State wins out, I can see them snatching the #2 from UCLA, but there's a lot of basketball left to be played with a few scenarios that could happen. The issue for NC State is that beating Georgia Tech and Boston College en route to the championship doesn't exactly help their resume much. They'll have to knock off Louisville or Florida State in the championship to have a chance at surpassing UCLA. That's not to mention an outside shot for Mississippi State if they knock off South Carolina in the SEC Tournament and UCLA loses to Stanford.

Agreed on all points, except I think NC State would have to beat Louisville in the final to have a shot at a 2 seed. Beating FSU is not nearly as valuable.
