The Big Ten hasn't performed well in the national spotlight in football, is searching for its first men's basketball national champion since 2000 and no conference women's basketball team has made the Final Four since 2005.

But the conference continues to lead the nation in revenue.

The Big Ten released its IRS Form 990 on Friday and the federal tax record shows the league generated just over $318 million during the 2012-13 fiscal year (July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013). The Big Ten provided the document at the request of the Journal and Courier.

Of the $318 million, nearly $298 million was distributed the 12 schools - about an $11 million increase from the previous year.
