Good call Plebe. High scoring game with good fundamental play on both sides. Iowa shooting is off the wall 14/15 shots made 3-3 from 3pt. Iowa leading 34-25

Gustafson playing very well but FSU hanging around.
Good to hear. Maryland-Virginia is also turning out to be a good game. Virginia's season thus far has been very disappointing, but they've responded well in the 2nd half of this game and have now tied it at 51-51 early in Q4.

ND is fat, short, and slow and ranked #3 in the country.

Remarkable.
Well, you yourself said that the rankings don't make much sense :)

Seriously, though, Young and Ogunbowale are among the fastest players in the country. Very hard for most teams to defend just one of them, much less both of them. Who needs five Olympic sprinters when you have those two blazing past the defense at will.

One-point game between MD and VA in the final minute.

Maryland really struggling to score in the second half. Not often you see them under 60 after 39 minutes.

MD holds on to win 60-59. Virgina had 2 good chances on last shot and blew it. MD had horrible turnover to give VA a chance

What ugly sweaters?

Actually, the last few minutes of the game were almost as ugly as the sweaters.

Another interesting development is the game between TAMU and Rice, tied at 55 in Q3 (on SEC Network+).

Rice is 5-1 so far and has two Ogwumike sisters, Erica and Olivia, who both start. Erica is the reigning C-USA POY.

Check out TAMU vs Rice. Rice leads 62-57 on the road. Olivia Ogwumike and Erica Ogwumike of Rice both looking good with Olivia 14 pts (4-5 3pts) and Erica with 17 pts (7-7). Chennedy Carter having subpar game so far. Edit. Plebe beat me by 2 seconds. Head bang

FSU, meanwhile, has stormed back to take the lead 80-79 over Iowa, with 3:00 to play.

The Seminoles really heated up from 3 down the stretch, and Iowa just committed a key turnover down 3, now having to foul FSU.

Thomas and Wright have combined for 55 points if my math is right.

Same with TAMU overtaking rice. Carter tough down the stretch. 81-71 less than a minute left

Iowa losed 94-93. 1pt game when Iowa made last second 3 pt shot. Gustafson played like AA 34 pts 15/18 with 9 rebounds. Tough skilled kid.

Rice shot 15-27 from the arc. The shorter O sisters are distance shooters. Both O sisters are back next year, and 6'9" Nancy Mulkey, the transfer from Oklahoma, becomes eligible.

Rice is my son's alma mater. Go Owls!

A perfect testament to the paucity of talent outside of Storrs.

If there is such a paucity of talent outside Storrs and the #3 team in the country is so deficient, doesn't it render UConn's accomplishments rather meaningless?

Westbeld started this one and Thompson off the bench. Westbeld looks a little slow out there, probably not fully fit after her injury. Not the most athletic ND team we've seen over the years but they run good half-court offense as always.
I missed the start of this game and by the time I got to watching Thompson was manning the Point. Who was manning the Point for ND before Thompson?

Also a somewhat interesting game on the ACC Network: #15 Maryland at Virginia.

Maryland leads 20-15 after Q1.

Apparently it's ugly sweater day in Charlottesville.

The sweaters are ugly enough but some of those yoga pants just SHOULD NOT BE!

Not meaningless, just instructive. I believe that many of the traditionally "best" teams in the country are somewhat down this year, and UConn is unusually up. This includes ND, Maryland, Stanford, and others. Texas is an exception talent-wise. Whether ND gets its head handed to it this weekend or manages to defeat what many here feel is an unbeatable Husky team remains to be seen. But there is a certain prejudice that goes with some of us on this site; we're not all trying to be polite, we're homers. Confidence or arrogance? Probably both. Glad you're around to plug the opposition.

You mean before this year? Lindsay Allen, four-year starter.

Thompson has, to my knowledge, been the starting PG in every game this year.
