The "exact" scenario? Does that matter? UConn's chant isn't that unique. Many schools have chants they use at various times of the game. Several do a winning team, losing team chant in that situation. Utah State has a very high participation chant (I believe that we will win), KU has Rock Chalk chant of course. Several examples on YouTube.

Case in point, "I believe that we will win" chant was ripped off by Utah State from Navy. This stuff is all recycled and derivative.

He happens to be right in this case. It is a ripoff of the Jets chant, thats a fact. "Let’s go Huskies" is also a ripoff of "Lets go Rangers" . You are trying much too hard. Ease off the stick a little there, maverick.
Lol, so now we think that New York invented both spelling in the let’s go chant? That’s been around forever.

What‘s next, saying that the old player introduction “ [player name] sucks!” chant was derivative of “Potvin Sucks”? I think you might’ve been a little quick on wanting to jump in and get the third man in penalty.

In both cases a LOT longer than anyone was doing them at UConn games. Do you dispute that?

Don’t post on a fan forum if you don’t want to have people comment on your posts.

Your try hard act is thin and not entertaining to anyone. You’re not the first one here to dislike what I have to say. Just be better at it.

When do you think the each tradition started? You seem very certain of the timeline.

You're right.

The J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets chant is much different from the U-C-O-N-N, UConn, UConn, UConn chant.
The Jets chant is pretty good I’ve experienced it live in stadium. Unfortunately the chant is better than the team.

Then you should be used to it. Maybe quit whining when it happens?

I mean, it matters because that was my question. To be clear, my question has nothing to do with the nature of the chant itself, who leads it, or chants that other schools have for different situations. Everything being discussed is fine with me, but I am asking something specific, and I don't think anyone has named an example of it yet. (Except maybe "calling the hogs." I'm gonna research that. Maybe that's one.)
Starting to feel like I’m back in one of my 200 level English classes where the prof knows he doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about so he keeps throwing it back to the class

I confess that is eerie as hell when you hear it in person. AFH gets insanely loud with so many packed in.

That may be true, but we invented " YOU REFS" when we chanted it at James Breeding last year.

I imagine that we may need an old timer who goes back to the Shabel days but does anyone have a legitimate time frame as to when the UConn chant started?

I remember it from very early in JC's tenure. I'm not sure if I heard it during the Perno years but after Corny et al graduated Perno didn't provide a lot to cheer about

I don't remember hearing it at Shea until around 1982-1983 (for the record I had season tickets then and had been to some stray Jet games from when Namath was still there).

wait, the founder of the UConn chant is one of the village people?
which one? i always liked the cowboy guy best, tho the first nation guy is pretty slick, too.
i really learn a lot here, like, since hoops was invented at the ymca, and to do the ymca thing you have to wave ur arms, just like the UConn one, then obviously the good lord invented ball just so he/she/it could be a Huskie fan. freakin amazing. Spock should do one his strange but true shows aboot all this.
i played a lot of ball at the downtown SF y, just off Market. sometimes, coming out late at night into the Tenderloin, i would say a prayer to get home without getting shot.
full circle.

Cheering started during Roman Coliseum days when stomp the crap out of them really meant what it implies.

And the Greek marathon promoted streaking.
