From CBSSports. Top 10 big men combos for 2024-2025.

UConn Huskies

The personnel: Tarris Reed and Samson Johnson

The scoop: Dan Hurley might have a big say in the boom of big men brigades. UConn's back-to-back National Championship-winning clubs had two of the best backup centers in the sport in Clingan in 2022-23 and Johnson this past season. The development of Michigan transfer Tarris Reed will have a big say on whether UConn downshifts to a true 50-50 platoon. As of now, Johnson is slated to become the unquestioned starter. The rim-running, high-flying center finally gets a chance to be the man in the middle, but if Johnson still can't defend without fouling, Reed will hear his number called. Reed has to improve his decision-making, but the burly junior has all the makings of UConn's next version of Adama Sanogo who eats rebounds for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There are similarities. It's natural to compare and contrast.
Nah, it's lazy. Reed is much taller, Sanogo was much more gifted offensively. Comparing every physical center we get to Sanogo is doing them a disservice. People are gonna expect Reed to have elite footwork if they keep hearing that comparison, when in reality he had a severe traveling problem.

I bet we use Reed much more in a 'Clingan style' role offensively, based on what he's good at. He set HARD screens at Michigan, but they didn't have the talent to take advantage. He's gonna get our elite shooters open off ball, and create space for our ball handlers.

Please for the love of whoever you worship, stop comparing Reed to Sanogo. Sanogo was a special player.

Yeah, put me in the "Reed's no Sanogo" category. Reed is much more similar to Okafor or Voskuhl.

Who is Isaac Trotter any way? Don't remember articles from him. He's on Twitter if you want to tell him that.

We will go undefeated if Sampson is undisputed backup getting 15 minutes. Reed changes everything. We are three deep with nba players at every other position. If reed is taller Sanogo, everyone just get lost.
