I'm amped about tonight's game...so let's get some predictions started!

Aided by DD's exception pre-game analysis and careful review of ESPN's updated team stats...on paper this game shouldn't be close and on the hardwood tonight it won't be! :)

i hope we win by a lot, but think this could be similar to the Stanford game. i think aTm has trouble scoring - if they had trouble scoring against Purdue (51 points) i can't see where they do any better against UCONN. i think they get to about 48 points. i think UCONN goes for about 60-65, but if our offense is clicking, i could see us getting 74-75 or so.

my official prediction is UCONN 62, aTm 48. but this could be a very ugly game for aTm...

If A&M slows the game down, then 10-15 point win for UConn. If they want to try and run 20+ win for UConn. One bad thing for UConn is that it has been 6 days since they played. There may be some rust and rhythm issues.

UConn might still win, but they will not score in the 80's.
I picked A & M to win this game in the preseason, so rather than flip-flop, I will tepidly predict Texas A & M prevailing by five 66-61. Texas A & M's offense has been rather pedestrian, but their defense will keep them in the game.

It is quite possible Coach Blair got caught trying to confound UConn's scouting report by utilizing a small fraction of its playbook. And, also, trying to keep his team's legs fresh. It backfired against Purdue. UConn, now, is under a tad more pressure to win. A loss to a team that lost to Purdue will not look good. Look for A & M to open up the playbook and press a for full 40 minutes. Brianna Banks needs to rely more on patience than on quickness when breaking the press. I do not foresee Ms Mosqueda-Lewis getting as many open looks as she did against Stanford. UConn does not have to concern itself from stopping any single player from dominating the game or hurting us from 3. Will A & M's defense generate enough offense to beat UConn? I am guessing just enough. I am also guessing that it would be prudent to just throw out the Purdue game.

Boy, you are stubborn...lol.

A&M has some talented players, has a great coach and are the defending national champs. It is certainly possible that they can put up a good fight. But on the road against a more talented team does not bode well for the Aggies.

I can see that Blair might have held back on a full court press. Especially since it was pretty ineffective against Purdue. But I doubt he he did anything your suggested in order to fool Geno. And when you scout, you use more than one game to prepare your scouting report.

Banks? She is the 8 player off the bench. I don't think we need to worry too much about her performance this game.

If she gets in, I just do not want to see her try to "Lorin Dixon" the ball through a press. Dixon always scared me when she put her head down.

UCONN 68 TAM 63

This is a 10% team. My initial thought was to go 58 - 53 but it's Christmas time....10 points for both teams

Don't go anywhere near me if we are both at a casino at the same time.

How many losses did you predict? It's ok to flip flop. They are better than even I thought they would be and I'm an optomistic kinda guy.

For the record 7. UConn has won two games I felt they would lose. If they win the the next predicted loss, then and only then will I be ready to flip-flop.
If you see me in a casino, you can out me for hypocrisy

UConn is much, much better than expected and Texas A & M is a queasy, uneasy head wearing the crown.

Texas A & M showed no fight, no pride, and absolutely no championship bearing.

I feel really bad for Sydney Carter. Another game like these past two and she will lose the respect and confidence of her teammates. It is very difficult to play, much less lead without those two vital elements.
Texas A & M got their rear ends spanked by Purdue and by UConn and all I am reading here on the Boneyard is what a class act Gary Blair is; What a great guy he is. If this was Gail Goestenkors, Brenda Frese, Joanne P. McCallie, Sylvia Hatchell, or any other coach lacking in favor among most of us here, they would be raked over the coals for poor coaching. Maybe Coach Blair and his players just had a bad stretch. It happens in basketball. It happens in all sports. However, I saw very little in the area of coaching tonight. No preparation, no adjustments, nothing. Yet he still commands the respect of most of us here. That was not an untalented team out there tonight. But it was a team totally unprepared. An unprepared team falls on the coach.

On the other side, Coach Auriemma, through 8 games, is enjoying his finest hour as a basketball coach. UConn executed tonight as if it was practice. And UConn put up 81 points on a team renowned for its tenacious defense. The fact that Texas A & M could not score did not surprise anyone.

I do not want to take anything away from UConn's victories over Stanford and Texas A & M. More than anything, I want to see competitive games among top teams.

I don't think that statement is correct. They just couldn't handle our defense.

Question is did they show none of that fight or did we take it away from them.

If DaddyChoc is going to meet teams before we play them then his predictions shouldn't be allowed....that's like insider trading. LOL

I had to watch the replay on ESPN3 this morning. A TOP 10 team treated like a 90% team. 30 points. This game was boring...and just like those World Vision games, no contest.

This group plays good together, so haters hate on.

My one problem with this group, minus the freshman, is that if they played like this last year with Maya they'd be the champs.
