Not sure if anyone has tried to break down these 2 conferences, but they seem to be closer than most think. I did a little breakdown. The Big East vs. Big 12 challenge ended in a 5-5 split with EVERY home team winning. There were 5 neutral court games which went 3-2 in favor of the Big 12. There is some subjectivity in what I categorize as Top vs. Middle vs. Bottom of these leagues. For example, I have Nova in the middle of the Big East, but you could make a case they belong in the bottom. Same is true for the Big 12 as you have a ton of teams at 6-4 (I considered them the Middle).

Marquette 96 Baylor 70 (home team won) Top Big East vs. Middle Big 12

Providence 62 TCU 75 (home team won) Top Big East vs. Middle Big 12

Georgetown 65 Texas Tech 79 (home team won) Bottom Big East vs. Bottom Big 12

Butler 76, Kansas State 64 (home team won) Bottom Big East vs. Middle Big 12

Creighton 67 Texas 72 (home team won) Top of Big East vs. Top of Big 12

UConn 74 Oklahoma State 64 (home team won) Middle Big East vs. Middle Big 12

Seton Hall 65 Kansas 91 (home team won) Middle Big East vs. Middle Big 12

Villanova 70 Oklahoma 66 (home team won) Middle Big East vs. Bottom Big 12

Xavier 84 West Virginia 74 (home team won) Top Big East vs. Bottom Big 12

St. John’s 58 Iowa St. 71 (home team won) Middle Big East vs. Top Big 12

Creighton 75 Texas Tech 65 (neutral court) Top of Big East vs. Bottom Big 12

Seton Hall 57 Oklahoma 66 (neutral court) Middle Big East vs. Bottom Big 12

UConn 71 Iowa State 53 (neutral court) Middle Big East vs. Top Big 12

Villanova 79 Iowa State 81 (neutral court) Middle Big East vs. Top Big 12

Depaul 78 Oklahoma State 82 (neutral court) Bottom Big East vs. Middle Big 12

Big 12 will get 6 with a bubble team shot at 7. Big East will get 5 with a bubble team shot at 6.

Big 12 top 2-3 are going to be higher seeds. UConn still leads the Big East in NET by the way. Big 12 dominated the SEC in their challenge.

Big 12 is very likely to get 7 with a chance at 8 of their 10. The team in 8th in the standings is #20 in NET, #14 KenPom, #38th SOR. if WVU goes 4-4 in their last 8, the conference probably gets 8. Torvik's tourney cast has all 8 with a >80% chance to make it, but I'm a bit more pessimistic about WVU's chances (he has it at 86% thanks to their superb NET, but I'm guessing closer to 50/50).

WVU has Iowa State home tonight, but also @UT, @KU and @Baylor and @ISU. Plus a home game vs K-State. Decent change they go 2-6 in those games, or at best 3-5. But college basketball can always surprise you.

I expect the BE to be tough outs in March. The functional part of the conference is pretty darn good.
