the only reason they “announce” the times two hours apart (7pm-9pm in same venue) is so viewers tune in so they can amp game up fir half hour- anyone who has watched postseason coll hoops knows that there is always 30 minutes between tip times of the next game no matter what time previous game ends. So when they say 7pm and 9pm it usually means 7pm and 9:30(depending on when first game ends).

I did out our BET permutations.
  • If we win any game, we clinch a bye.
  • To get the 3 seed, Hall has to lose 1 of its last 2. If we don't beat them, they have to lose to St. John's and we have to win our other 2.
  • If Hall loses both (and so we beat them), we can lose our other 2 and still get the 3 seed if Xavier doesn't win 2 of their 3.
  • Using KenPom odds for the relevant games, our odds for each seed:
    356.13%
    429.82%
    512.32%
    61.46%
    70.28%
With the win, we've clinched a bye in the BET (top 5 seed). Seed probabilities based on remaining relevant KenPom games.
365.43%
427.99%

Doesn't a win over Seton Hall clinch the #3 seed for UConn?

I think by winning percentage Xavier can pass us. It's a weird year, so I guess I don't know if that's enough for them to take the 3 seed if we lose a game and they win out.

I read that, because the league knows not all teams will finish having played the same number of games, winning percentage is the first criterion (i.e. the only criterion unless tie breakers are needed) for seeding.

Yes if Xavier wins 2 more and we beat Hall but lose to Gtown, they'd have a better win %. The win today was really big for them. But we control our own destiny for #3 by beating Hall and Gtown. Xavier's 2 are on the road, also.
