2021: Baylor, 66.9%, 31st
2019: Virginia, 60.2%, 79th
2018: Villanova, 55.9%, 124th

2016: Villanova, 58%, 106th

I have too much trouble seeing a title team make it all the way to the finals with basically a brand-new squad. You need battle-tested cohesion, even if it means guys in new and expanded roles, like Hawkins/Andre/Sanogo in the 2023 team and Clingan/Samson/Diarra on the 2024 team.

UConn's retention was pretty low in 2023 but sometimes it's about having lower-minute guys step up into larger roles. They kept a lot less minutes than Florida did this year, but had some guys back that were ready to make leaps.

We had guys who knew the system and culture. But, of course we had a one and done future NBA ROY too and a transfer who exceeded all expectations.

We didn't have castle in 23. Edit: I can see the confusion. What I meant is the calendar year when we won the championship, so 23-24, we did have castle, but not 22-23

Right I was referring to 23/24. I said he was a one and done - which meant he played one year.
