And picked to finish 2nd in the conference. Almost defies logic. When’s the last time we had 3 preseason 1st teamers? Has that ever happened with any team?
According to Borges this is the first time ever (not sure if he means Big East specifically, or across all conferences)When’s the last time we had 3 preseason 1st teamers? Has that ever happened with any team?
Except that St. Johns was selected as #1 in the pre-season poll by league coaches. That should hopefully be a motivator for the team. It makes no sense other than anti-UConn bias (we have more players on the all-conference teams, are ranked higher in the AP poll, etc.).Can't complain about jealousy or anti-UConn bias this year.
UConn is the first team to have three players on the all-conference preseason first team since Villanova ahead of the 2005-06 campaign:When’s the last time we had 3 preseason 1st teamers? Has that ever happened with any team?
I don't recall about the treatment of players in awards, but my impression is we've consistently been picked low in the coaches' preseason poll ever since we rejoined the league.Except that St. Johns was selected as #1 in the pre-season poll by league coaches. It makes zero sense, but I absolutely love it. Prime BB material. And picked to finish 2nd in the conference. Almost defies logic.
Let me know when we get that invite. I think most of us would be onboard with the more competitive league. Anyone wanting to stay in the BE over indexes on nostalgia.IDK this league turning top heavy just like for our Women is a clear sign that we need to get into a more competitive league.
This and our football team is looking minor bowl worthy seems like there might be talks starting. No inside info other than my inner voice.
So just my thoughts here while we pile on awards we dilute the conference - hoping Creighton can pull a few good wins against not us to challenge.

To me, Cooley has been the biggest disappointment. I was not expecting Georgetown within these last 2 years to be great, a top 25 team, or team to contend for the Big East title, but I did expect them to at least make the NCAAT. In fairness to Cooley, Thomas Sorber's injury really derailed them. If he stays healthy, they would have been on bubble of the NCAAT at least.Let me know when we get that invite. The BE needs Nova & Gtown to be good, period. Cooley has barely moved the needle and jury is out on whether Willard is the guy for Nova. He doesn't feel like a Nova guy to me - weird match TBH.
And a second teamer AND the newcomer of the year. Makes no sense at allAnd picked to finish 2nd in the conference. Almost defies logic.
I'm not mad about it. It's not a big deal. Gives Hurley some bulletin board material for motivation. But I question the logic of the coaches that could vote for 3 UConn players on the first team, 1 on the second team and FOTY and then put them behind St. John's. Bring it on.And a second teamer AND the newcomer of the year. Makes no sense at all
Again....

Because the coaches voted that St. John's has the conference player of the year, another first team player, a second team player, and 2 third team players.I'm not mad about it. It's not a big deal. Seems 3 first team players, 1 2nd team and FOTY would be better. O.K. call it a wash, which is close to the vote. But in the end not a big deal. Bring it on.Because the coaches voted that St. John's has the conference player of the year, another first team player, a second team player, and 2 third team players.
