Some huge games yet to be played which will probably decide it.

Right now I think it's between Kalk, Ashworth, Kam Jones, RJ Luis with Kadary having an outside shot.

Dixon has great #'s but his team is going nowhere.

I think it comes down to Kalk and Ashworth with Kalk being the leader.

What do you all think?

Last year Devin Carter won it by dominating his way to .500 and an NIT berth. If that's the new criteria, it's 100% Eric Dixon

If that was just a one time thing so that Tristen Newton couldn't get his award, then it's 80% Ryan Kalkbrenner, 15% Kam Jones, 5% RJ Luis

I’m guessing will be between Kalk and Luis. My lean is Kalk, as he just impacts game so much on both ends. If I was building a roster for this year and had any choice I’d start it with Kalk.

His numbers are pretty awesome, 19+ ppg on 67% shooting, 8.5 rebounds, almost 3 blocks. Jones was leading for a bit but he’s tailed off some, as has Marquette.

Is Karaban first team BE at this point? Looking like a clear second teamer.

Telford, Conwell, Karaban?
Ejiofor, Free, Solo, Telfort

Not sure on the 5th. I guess Karaban is possible because other coaches talk so highly about him but there's other guys who have played better than him in Big East play.

Is McNeeley eligible since he missed a bunch of games? Is there a requirement for number of BE games played to qualify for these awards?

Even if Karaban can’t immediately get his three-pointer back to the extent that it scares defenders again, he needs to get his 5-8 foot push shot back to being automatic so he can bring somewhat consistent shooting to the table. I don’t think I’ve seen him attempt one since the 1 for 14 game when he was back-rimming all of them.

I don't know if there is a written requirement per se, but Clingan was not on any of the Big East team but just an honorable mention and he missed 5 games. If he doesn't miss time, I think he at least gets 2nd All BE team and probably BE DPOY over Kalkbrenner. Kalkbrenner is good defensive player, but I think Clingan is better on defense.

As crazy as it is to think, If you put a premium on Big East games, then Hass might be in line before AK. Four less points in league games (13 to 9), but Hass is averaging 7 assists with a 3:1 ratio, which is really good point guard play and he’s a good defender, whereas teams still hunt AK on defense. And Hass has better shooting splits.

AK gets a reputational boost though, no question. He’s a known commodity to league coaches.
