St Johns->Texas->Seton Hall

And don't forget he committed to UNC before Pitino got his hooks in him and flipped him to St. John's in June 2023 after Elliott Cadeau reclassified and started at UNC in 2023 instead of the 2024 class he was originally in. Wilcher has a closet full of jerseys.

Here's a blast from the past. Surprised Syracuse picked him up but that may be the best they can do right now.

.-.
Derek was sued by the state of New York in 2008 related to State income taxes they said he owed for 2001 thru 2003 when Derek claimed his main residence was in Tampa Florida.
Derek won that case. The prosecution was banking on the fact that Derek played for the New York Yankees and that was countered by defense that yes but that the Yankees are a Florida registered company.

A quick Google search says they settled the case confidentially, though he reportedly paid at least a portion of the amount claimed by NYS. There are tons of Delaware register companies that don’t have real operations in Delaware. Their employees don’t pay Delaware state taxes.

I worked for a company registered in Delaware - Merck so I know what you mean but Derek owned a home in FL. When that lawsuit was written up in the NY Times I was still living in NJ but building a retirement home on the Cape. We owned a condo in Florida which we decided to move into and established residency with Homestead while we were building and sold NJ. We made sure we were 6 months and 1 day with records in FL for years to avoid an audit only to finally realize we didn't make enough to trigger an IRS audit!!
