Would have anyone, back in August, when student athletes began to return to practices to prepare for this Big East Season, bet that this weeks Big East Player of the Week Selection would be this specific one person to get it???? (Seton Hall's AEH)

It's tough to win BE Player of the week honors when team only plays one game...if that.

Since the BE player of the week was not a UCONN player can we please move this thread to the General basketball section. Perhaps appended to that thread about Sabrina Ionescu being the GOAT. FYI you are making it hard for us to continue to wish her well when you keep sticking these threads in our face.

no way what GIF by EA SPORTS FIFA

Since BY members don't vote on these Big East Player of the Week Awards. I guess if people don't like who the BE votes for, they should complain to the Big East (I guess any positive posts about AEH is a sore subject on the BY)

See that is exactly what I mean about you making it hard to continue to wish her well. The vast majority of people here are happy for her being Big East POW. There is nothing to complain to BE about- BE made a great selection. Any additional positive news about AEH will be welcome here and need not be a sore subject. I was just pointing out where you can stick post it.

Well, As long as Freshman Paige Bueckers keeps winning FPOW, she frees up the award for other teams to win POW. Next Game foe takes the BE Player of Week

BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Leilani Correa, St. John’s, So., G
Correa averaged an impressive 32.0 points per game in a pair of road games last week, posting game highs in an overtime setback at Villanova on Monday and a win at Georgetown on Wednesday.

BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week
Paige Bueckers, Connecticut, Fr., G
In a pair of road games against top-25 competition, Bueckers averaged 24.5 points, 7.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds, shooting 60-percent from the field and 80-percent from three. The rookie guard scored a team-high 27 points in Thursday’s setback at 19th-ranked Arkansas before recording her first double-double with 22 points and 12 assists in Sunday’s win at 17th-ranked DePaul. On the week she finished third in the BIG EAST in scoring and second in assists. Following her performances, Bueckers jumped from fifth to third on the BIG EAST scoring list this season, bumping her average from 17.1 to 18.5 points per game. This is her sixth BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor.

BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
Christyn Williams, Connecticut, Jr., G
Williams averaged 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 1-1 road swing against top-25 competition. Her week was highlighted by a career-best 29 points on 12-of-15 shooting at 17th-ranked DePaul on Sunday, helping the Huskies stay undefeated (9-0) in BIG EAST play.
Payton Brotzki, Creighton, Jr., G
Playing for the first time in 27 days, Brotzki led the Bluejays to a win over Georgetown on Saturday with 18 points off 5-of-10 shooting, including a 3-of-3 clip from three, while adding three assists, two steals and two rebounds.
Lexi Held, DePaul, Jr., G
In the 17th-ranked Blue Demons’ lone game of the week, Held filled the stat sheet with 16 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals in a setback to third-ranked UConn on Sunday.
Selena Lott, Marquette, Sr., G
Lott reached the 1,000-career point mark at Villanova on Wednesday with a game-high 27 points off 8-of-17 shooting, dishing a season-high 11 assists for her second double-double of the year and first of the points-assists variety. She added five rebounds and was 5-of-7 from three, leading the Golden Eagles to the win.
Maddy Siegrist, Villanova, So., F
In a 2-1 week for the Wildcats, Siegrist averaged 23.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 50-percent shooting. She notched double-doubles in wins over St. John’s and Butler, leading Villanova in scoring in all three games, including 24 points against the Red Storm and 26 points against the Bulldogs.

 Wait no AEH this week? How can that be? Correa was a former UCONN POI at one point and played at the Philly Belles with Amari Deberry and quite a few other players that were interested in UCONN.

I think SH was shut down this week

As you said 2 weeks ago. "That's because no one from UCONN Played". Well, Seton Hall didn't play this past week. Enough already, you have had your fun. Thus, this says it all Coco:

So here's a question. Is Paige going to win Big East player of the Year? The only other player close statistically is Siegrist from Villanova.

With all these weekly Freshman awards going to Paige, it open up the the Player of Week to all classes and schools. My guess is they may do the same thing for the annual award.

Andi shot 20-30 from the arc. I'm not saying we should want Andi back, but if Paige or Anna made 20 threes in a week, we would be thrilled.
Anybody else on that team score double figures?

@GRIFFBIFF20 - Not seeing Park Lane? Xavier game.

Paige will be named BE POY over Siegrist, National Freshman Of the Year over Clark of Iowa, and WBCA All American. She might also win the Liberman award this season.

At least try and be original. This corny thing has been used here before!

Will Paige need at least 1 POW award to win POY? If I’m not mistaken Moore did win at least 1 POW award before being named POY.

The first time I saw AEH play was when I was invited to the Ursuline CTK game and Saniya vs Sierra Calhoun. Saniya had a tummy virus and didnt look good in the 1st qtr. She got it going and just carried Ursuline on her back. I think she scored something like 28 pts in either the second half or 4th qtr. She was amazin.

I got to the game and hour early and the line was for miles long. The coach invited me in. Geno and Chris showed up about 20 minutes before the game. I met Vince Cannizzaro the Legend from CTK who coached Sue Bird and Chamique Holdsclaw among others. Everybody who was anybody was there. My friends/coaches introduced me to a 12 yr old who wanted to play for UConn and who later was the NYC POY Danielle Patterson 6'4 who is now with Indiana. Her dad and I are still friends. AEH was a shooting machine and everybody took notice. Saniya put on a show that afternoon and Ursuline won. MSG broadcast the game. AEH was a terrific talent and had the makings to become a star. Im so happy to see her back to her old form.

Neither Saniya nor Andra ever played for Ursuline

I believe that the poster was referring to Ossining High School, not Ursuline Academy (which is the High School that former University of Georgia All American Cory Chambers and current Senior [and Notre Dame commit] Soniya Citron played/plays for. We are all human and entitled to make a mistake now and then 🙂

In 1980, legend Vinnie Cannizzaro was a CYO girls' basketball coach at Gate of Heaven in Ozone Park, where he lived. When his daughter Lisa enrolled at Christ the King, Vinnie took the job as head coach at CK and helmed the program into the #1 girls' basketball program in the country [according to USA Today]. My daughter, Leslie, was teammates with Vinnie's daughter and Leslie led them to their first NY State championship. Leslie was All-City and went to Lehigh where Muffett McGraw was head coach.
My younger daughter, Chelsea, also played for Vinnie and alongside Chamique. The latter, of course, was in a class by herself, and led Tennessee to three straight national championships and barely missed a fourth. Like her older sister, my daughter Chelsea was also All-City and led CK to an undefeated season in her senior year[see attached].

Christ the King HS with Chamique, Sue Bird & Tina Charles has more players winning NCs than any other high school.

btw - Saniya Chong, AEH & Aubrey Griffin all played for Ossining HS, not Ursiline .. I get them confused too! haha
