1. They certainly don't help. 7 bids is off the table more than likely.

2. The top six (UConn, Marquette, Creighton, St. John's, Xavier, and Providence) have all taken care of business. DePaul being 4-0 is a little surprising given last year. Georgetown losing to Notre Dame is not the worst thing in the world.

Villanova and Seton Hall have killed the league. Butler is an enigma as usual (win over SMU, loss vs. Austin Peay).
Not sure I’d call PC taking care of business. They’ve played a bunch of slugs at home and looked bad. I believe their KP has gone down sitting at 81. To put it in perspective Nova is 73. Nothing about PC right now looks like a tourney team. This is a glass half full view and that’s great but the broad national outlook isn’t great. To flip the script the BE will need some real OOC wins against top 30 type teams, which they’ll have a chance at in upcoming weeks. Cross your fingers.

DePaul has played 4 rusty tomato cans.

So 5 bids is ceiling, 3 floor?
4 is the floor, there's 3 locks but it's hard to see a scenario where both Xavier and St John's play themselves onto the wrong side of the bubble. Someone has to win games in the Big East

5 is a lock, st johns and xavier are very good. Beyond that providence has potential once hopkins is back. Butler has talent and upside. Clearly seton hall has no offense, Villanova is a rudderless boat. , Georgetown and depaul are slightly improved

St johns should be outstanding defensively with kadary and lewis size and athleticism. St johns handling New Mexico, a likely tournament team. Xavier handled Maryland, a very talented tournament team.

Chris Holtmann seems like a legit coach.

He is a good coach and brought in a good staff. I think, in a few years, he likely will get them to the tournament. I’m not sure what went wrong at OSU, but following that l, he turned down other jobs to take on the challenge of DePaul. Their new AD wants to have an actual program, and I think they have a better coach than they could have hoped for.

St Johns doesn't have enough shooters to be outstanding

As always, don’t underestimate BIG EAST bias, and that is not a positive bias I reference

StJ starting five is legit. They are going to be tough, as have multiple on balls scorers and size. They may lack some outside shooting but make up for it in other ways. They also don’t have much depth as run most of those starters well over 30 minutes. I’ll be curious to see how our depth looks against them.

New Mexico shooting so poorly from the free throw line really changed the game.

SJU has kind of sucked from outside this season. They will need to shoot better from deep to consistently beat major conference opponents.

Slickster, st johns, and their fecal fans: a rare instance today of not totally minding they failed not to lose. Necessary for Big East rep.

Thanks for nothing you %#£*¥ losers Nova, Hoyas, and Hall.

If Xavier makes it way into the Top 25 this week (a small possibility since there won't be too much movement) the Big East will have 5 teams ranked. League is going to be top heavy. Providence desperately needs Hopkins back.

Villanova could be competitive in league play if they can Neptune and replace him with someone marginally competent or better.

Nova x3 and Gtown x1. Both losses at home, got dusted and against middle of the pack P4 teams, sub KP 50.

We can spin it however we want to make ourselves feel better, but national perception is that the BE stinks this year. Marquette at MD was a nice win, but MD is not a great team. Wake at home is a game that any tourney team should be winning. Not major dents. Still without anything signature, a number of very noticeable losses.

Kadary defends? I don't remember seeing that when he was with SHU.

Big east has 5 top 30 teams. There's no perception of the league stinking other than your own.

Also, not sure how many times it needs to be explained to you, using Kenpom before January is a fools errand as it still being influenced by previous seasons data

National perception? This is your perception based on KP which means nothing right now Head bang

Try listening to a few reputable college hoops podcasts - I’m just the messenger, along with an observer. Boneyard perception is not national perception. Don’t let nostalgia get in the way of reality.

Call KP what you will but it’s still the single most used metric. And while you’re right that it’s too early for it to be fully meaningful, the BE aggregate has moved down overall. What can redirect that is a few quality OOC wins. The league will get that chance over the next few weeks and then we can really talk turkey.

Kansas @ Creighton
Creighton @ Bama

Purdue @ Marq
Marq @ Iowa St

BYU @ PC
Baylor vs StJ
Xavier @ Cinci

Along with UConn’s 6 games. Outcomss of this slate should be a good indicator of how the top looks, as it’s clear as day the bottom is bad.

Perhaps shaka forgot kolek was a transfer

Yes, it turns out you need more than 3 scholarship players to field a team, so Shaka did start out with some transfers. Good job recalling that.

His freshman look good but doubt they can replace all the talent graduating this year. Without transfers they will be villanova next year.
