I get the sense that most kids, whether they enter or not, get a sense of their market value.

He'd give us a little of what we're missing.

I'm really hoping that Hurley challenges the status quo this year a little bit and doesn't automatically default to loyalty, because I honestly don't think it sets us up to contend.

People on here still don't seem to know the new rules with revenue sharing and NIL. UConn's revenue sharing for men's basketball is very competitive. That's all I care about. The old NIL model with pay for play was discontinued on July 1, 2025 when revenue sharing started.

This portal season will be interesting, because based on the rules, Big East teams, willing to spend, should have a significant advantage over how much revenue sharing they can spend versus "football" schools in the SEC, Big Ten, and Big 12. How that is enforced will be fascinating.

Yes, it will be interesting to watch. That's all I meant by saying UConn was "disadvantaged" compare to other BE teams, we do put something towards other sports. NIL still exists and those two commercials featuring UConn guys during the selection show were a good example. Just can't be a proxy for booster spending anymore, at least not under the rules. So a school with a robust presence in the local market, where a player can legitimately earn NIL still has some advantages.

All the chatter I've heard is that the market will still go up a bit vs last year, so I don't expect the Big East to gain any advantage.

I sure hope so, we were heavily involved with him out of high school. From Jersey City and Hurley is friend's with his dad.

His shooting #'s look pretty ugly this season but Steven Pearl probably has no clue what he's doing. Pettiford is a big game player, breaks people down 1 on 1 and he's incredibly quick and athletic. He's the type of guard we've desperately been lacking these past couple seasons.

The sales pitch from the staff would have to alleviate any concerns they would have about playing time and roles. As for the roles the staff could pitch them on being Kemba/Shabazz in 2011 and Shabazz/Boatright in 2014 and how those tandems won titles. The college basketball landscape has changed considerably since then, but this staff's ability to communicate their recruiting pitches is top notch as well as managing allocation of NIL/revenue.
