DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Byron Jones • Fr. • CB • Connecticut • New Britain, Conn.

On a day when Connecticut was held without an offensive touchdown, Byron Jones made the difference on the defensive end with a 10-yard fumble recovery in the fourth quarter to lift the Huskies to a 16-10 win against USF. Jones also had seven tackles as part of a defensive effort that held the Bulls’ offense, which had averaged better than 500 yards per game, to 339 yards and four turnovers.Jones was tabbed as BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week.

Lyle McCombs also gets a mention

Hard not to get excited about Jones. Redshirt Frosh, and he is playing like a veteran. Great speed, nose for the ball.

I'm liking the combo of him and Ty-Meer back there. Will Jones slide to safety if Blidi comes back vs PITT?

I thought Gratz was a starter at CB. What's this talk about Brown and Jones?
