As the Big Ten has twelve members while the Big Twelve has ten there is no reason why the Big East cannot be mismatched between the conference's title and makeup. If it were me, I would put of the Pacific in parentheses after Big East but only allow SDSU & Boise to use this as part of the conference logo.
BusinessWeek took that story way out of proportion. Tweaking the name was only a small part of a larger study about re-branding in general, including colors, slogans, logos etc. http://www.bigeastcoastbias.com/201...ssible-big-east-name-change-premature-at-best From Big East Coast Bias
"The Big East has contracted the services of a marketing company to work on an overall review of the conference's brand and to create a massive re-branding strategy. This review includes broad concepts like the conference's name as well as minute details like color schemes, slogans, and logos. So, while it is technically true that the conference's name and changes to it will be a part of this review, the conference name is unlikely to change in the re-branding effort."
1. ESPN will have to say those words when they reference us (S**k it Joe Testatorre!)
2. The general public will wonder, "If their the 5th, who is the other four?" Can you guess who will be left out?
The Compass Conference. Because we have a team in every direction.
TCC for short. For those of you old enough to remember that was the short name for CCSU many years ago. It would be appropriate because some of our recent entrants have the same characteristics as the old TCC.
