Gotta say, I don't know about the choice for COTY. For me, it should've been solely Geno's because he went undefeated a (3rd?) year in a row. At the very least if there had to be a Co-COTY duo, I'd have thought it would be Creighton's. Was Marquette just picked to finish really low initially, and because they did better than expected, that's why she won?

Creighton played a perfect season basically.

My thoughts on the awards:

-Was Paige unanimous or did Sarah receive some votes for player of the year?
-UConn can’t get every spot. But I am disappointed that Chen and shade didn’t get second team.
-I didn’t watch saint John’s much. But I am really surprised that Sarah strong isn’t defensive player of the year.

Not sure I agree that Cara should have earned co-coach of the year for coming in 4th. It's not like this is a deep 16 team league that she overachieved. Yes, she lost a couple of players but still had talent and didn't have to beat many other strong teams.

Maybe because she is a first year coach in the Big East and her team was picked to finish 10th in the preseason BE poll?

Marquette lost not only their head coach but also a slew of players from last year's team. They were picked 10th in the preseason poll. Cara did a helluva job and I'm guessing Geno would say she's very deserving of the award.

Of the 16 women on the All-Big East teams, I note that 11 are seniors or grad students, 3 are freshmen, and 2 are sophomores. A lot of strength among the older players in this league—especially interesting when I think about the players who entered the portal last year.

Ash, has this one. I like KK's game this year, however Ash kick started more runs, changed the focus of other team's D in many games. She was an offensive and defensive threat.

Clearly UConn fatigue! Ash should have been there but I think they just thought there was too much UConn representation and rationalized that one award for her was enough.

Awards go to offensive players. Shade beat out KK for 6woty for the same reason she beat her out for foty. I hope KK lives in the gym working on her jumper this summer.
