Lost in all this is the fact that Missouri still remains in limbo. They seemingly are 99% in the SEC, but whether they go in 2012 or not remains in question. Seems obvious that the B-12 is pushing WVU very hard to do whatever is necessary to get into the conference next year. From a financial standpoint, Missouri would have to pay a significantly larger exit fee to the B-12 if they wanted out for 2012. The larger exit fee would put millions of dollars into the B-12 coffers when combined with the A&M fees. The combined exit fees may be over $30 million which is a pretty nice payout for bringing WVU and TCU into the conference.

Good observation. Big 12 is very concerned about scheduling for next year. Marinatto is still planning for 3 years from now, when he likely won't have a job, as well as a football conference. The Big East tried to get rid of the remaining football schools in 2003, engineering a "soft landing" for them. That's what's going on now - Providence is all about basketball, and couldn't give two about football.

Nothing beats Big East basketball. It was amazing. But at this point if they are trying to find a landing spot for all the football programs then I don't think you would get an argument from any of the fan bases. The basketball schools would be happy and the football schools would be happy because they would be in BCS conferences. lawsuits would go away and league affiliations could begin as early as next year....but none of this will happen.
