Big 10 Tournament and Awards thread

Interesting that Guirantes wasn't even a unanimous Coaches All-Big Ten First Team selection but made the Wooden Late Season Watch List over two players in the same conference who were unanimous picks (Clark & Owusu).

Trivia:
Since the Women's Wooden Award was introduced in 2003-04 there have only been 2 players win any N-POY award (Wade, Naismith, USBWA or Wooden) who didn't also win their respective C-POY.

2007-08 Candace Parker (Naismith, USBWA & Wooden) but Fowles won SEC C-POY.
2009-10 Maya Moore (Wade) but Charles won Big East C-POY

Too bad they don't have a "Newcomer of the year" award as Benzan would have won that!

So, @TerpWomenFan I honestly think that Owusu should have won the POY award as she has the Terps running well on all cylinders considering all the new comers in the starting 5. What say you?

I would have voted for Hillmon. Owusu had a lot more (and unexpected) help this season. Miller would have won most improved player if they had such an award. Collins, Benzan and Bibby has a huge hand in the Terps success.

As the NET takes into consideration how much you do win by, I am curious to see the Big10 and Big12 conference tournaments play out as both Maryland and Baylor could insert themselves into the #1 seed contention...

I agree. I've been curious as to why there isn't a most improved category. There are a lot of players who make a huge jump from a previous season who deserve some recognition, even if they haven't made the all-conference teams.

Three out of the four teams who received a double bye lost yesterday. Maryland who won yesterday trailed at one point in the 4th quarter.
Yesterday was a crazy slate of games. With the exception of Michigan-Northwestern, I thought the games were very entertaining.

All-tournament team: Nia Clouden (Michigan State), Caitlin Clark (Iowa), Monika Czinano (Iowa), Diamond Miller (Maryland), Ashley Owusu (Maryland)

Miller wins the MOP.

No arguments there; Czinano proved all tournament she deserved to be on the B10 first team.
