When do they start canceling winter sports like basketball? The season officially begins in two months with the first games less than three months away.
They're understandably more occupied with what to do with the sports that were supposed to start in less than 3 weeks, but we can be fairly very certain that if football is canceled or postponed till spring, then there's not a chance in Hades that basketball will begin on time. At a minimum, postponed to a January start.

Very sad that college sports are being canceled. Perhaps, they may do this in the Spring? Eventually, the availability of a vaccine will mitigate the impact of this disease. We are all seeking a return to normal from a health perspective, but I am not sure the normal we had will be again. It is much too easy to conduct biological warfare to disable a nation or for that matter a civilization.

"Sources confirmed to ESPN that the Pac-12 presidents and chancellors followed the Big Ten's lead and also voted to postpone its fall sports season, including football. Stadium was the first to report the Pac-12's decision."

Time to re-read Huxley's "Brave New World." This is like the storm that just won't stop. My greatest hope is that in the end this is something that will unite us, make us better as a people and as persons. I have seen people, who have always sat on the sidelines, actually coming forward to assist others. I realize the economic consequences of losing the football season but it can also give us the opportunity to understand where our priorities are. For these conferences to cancel their seasons shows that they are choosing the health and welfare of their students and fans over the almighty dollar and there is something to be said for that.

The Big Ten & P12 handed the SEC, ACC & B12 loaded guns and are hoping that they refrain from using them to weed out the competition. Are the 3 bold enough to say “we are playing, we are accepting transfers who will have immediate eligibility, bye NCAA, accepting applications for additional member schools.” Are they bold enough to take the kill shot? No way P12 would survive and even BigTen would be badly wounded.

Nah, bold would be offering to pay the players for assuming the risk of playing. That would be the ultimate kill shot for the NCAA. The NCAA has offered football more autonomy before and they haven't taken it. On paper the NCAA does make money from Football the only money maker is NCAA Men's BB tournament. T

The NCAA isn’t the target. It is already dying. Simply need to schedule the funeral.

The real issue is control of whatever new organization arises. Big Ten loves being the big dog. SEC doesn’t see itself as Robin to Big Ten’s Batman. SEC has an opportunity to seize control and ACC and B12 have an opportunity to move up in the pecking order. And there is now the permanent political aspect to every decision in every area of life.
