They must have thrown a dump truck full of money at him. Otherwise it doesn't make sense.

Chryst likely to leave Pitt, or the Northern Illinois coach will tell NC State "sorry"

EXACTLY (and that is fine for him, obviously). He said earlier this year that he disagreed with the way Urban Meyer was recruiting and he didn't like that "SEC" approach. And here we are-he is running to the SEC.

I'll be interested to see if he brings his Wisconsin approach to Arkansas, or if he morphs his style of play. Moving from a program that has played in 3 consecutive Rose Bowls and has won I believe on average 9 games a year to Arkansas in the rough and tumble, morally flexible SEC. This just doesn't seem like a good fit to me. It's not my decision to make obviously so my opinion is useless. I'm just curious to see how this shakes out. In my mind, Wisconsin was one of the premier gigs in the country-great fanbase and support, in a storied league, but without the SUPER bright spotlight of OSU and Michigan. Seemed like a perfect happy medium between being BIG TIME in all the good ways, and not BIG TIME in the bad ways.

and BS runs a marathon...

Honestly, the more I watch all this stuff going.. the more I get a little concerned about the direction of UCONN football... Coach P is here and will be here .. no need to harp on that, but there's gotta be a bit of a shake up on the staff... I

This has to be an absolute nightmare scenario for Pitt. Where might they go next --- Stache Part II?

Yeah. I don't get it either. Unless he felt the need to get out from under Alvarez. I'm not happy with either of my teams now. Ugh.

It seems like an odd fit. If he went for the money I hope they paid him a lot. There will be a lot of expectations with that money and he's giving up a lot of job security. It's not easy to win the SEC West and he'll have to do at least that to keep his job for long

He'll be getting paid $500K per year more at Arkansas.

I think it is a terrible move for him. Being successful at Wisconsin is fairly easy, but maybe he is bored and wants to get out of the shadow of Barry Alvarez.

If Chryst leaves Pitt for Wisconsin, I will laugh for days.

Or Todd Graham...

I am still really surprised at this. And anyone who still wants to pretend that UConn Football can be a "destination" type program any time soon can keep on believing that but.... when Wisconsin a very successful program loses its coach to an bad luck SEC School, then all bets are off.

I think money was a big factor. But I think legacy is a big deal too. Wisconsin based on recent results is probably the third most prestigous program in the B1G. They have probably achieved as much as tOSU and Michigan RECENTLY. But it is a big, serious program with unconditional support.

Bielema was promoted not hired. He's talented but he probably was ready to move out of Barry Alvarez's shadow. He's young, he's gotten the team to three Rose Bowls, it's not really a bad point to segue into something new.

Well said.

Personally I can't really empathize with someone that spends so much time building something and then takes off for something new, but I guess some more type-A personality types might want to challenge themselves professionally. Maybe the building is the fun part for him. I'm sure cashing the checks will be fun too. I'm sure when the details are announced he'll be the highest paid coach in the country and I think it'll be by significant amounts.

There were silly rumors about the owner of the Browns (and UT alum) offering Gruden an ownership stake in the Browns to coach UT. I wonder if Bielema could be part owner of the Cowboys as a result of this.

Its a different world out there, once you get away from New England and UConn football. Wish we could figure out a way for our favorite program to become part of it.

BB said he left because Wisconsin wouldn't pay his assistants enough and he was sick of replacing them.

Maybe he saw the way recruiting was going at OSU and the Wisconsin administration wouldn't play in that game, so he decided to go where he has admin support.
