What do you think, the average college football fan will say it was our BCS team but most Uconn fans dont think that is the case I would say in my opinion the team the year prior to the BCS team was our best in terms of overall personnel. I also think our 03 team was better then the 04 team (first bowl team in Uconn history).

above expectations 07 and 03
below expectations 08 and 2010 (despite making it to a BCS)

The team that performed the best on the field was the '07 conference co-champs. Best record. Share of conference championship with an outstanding team. Period.

If you're asking which team would I pick to win a game against other UConn teams, meaning the team that, putting breaks aside, was the best in Vegas's eyes when viewed at the end of the season, yes, the '10 team was playing the best football. Second would be '07 or '04.

The '03 team simply did not best teams that were as good as later UConn teams beat. Yes, the win at Wake was a spectacular effort, and the team did all you could ask them to do, but they did not beat a single power conference team with a winning record.

The 03 would have made a bowl if they were in a conference, we will never know how good they really could have been, in my heart to hearts I believe the 03 team was better because the Dline was stronger and you had Caulley (pre injury of course).

It's hard to judge because the level of play in the Big East was inconsistent.

The 2003 team is probably a bit underrated. They gave Boston College a better game than the 2004 team did for example. They also had a NC State team that won the Gator Bowl taken to overtime on the road before Edsall lost his mind.

I'd say 2010, 2009, 2007, 2003\04 but really very thin difference between them.

The stretch run at the end of 09 was the best football we've ever played. Unfortunately, the first half of the season and all of the excruciating close losses count.

Therefore, from beginning to end, gotta go with 07.

Agree w/ Jimmy.

2007 over 2009 by a chainlink (but I will forever remember being in South Bend and then beating USCe).

The 2009 team was the best IMO, we had a real passing team that year along with two outstanding RB's. Just off the top of my head 12 players from that team are in NFL camps right now.

I agree, 2009 was a very solid roster and let's not forget that all 5 losses that year we HEARTBREAKERS (literally the average margin was around 3 points in 5 losses). Endres was very effective and I really think if he was our 2010 starter we could have hit the BCS at 10-2, saving quite a bit of embarrassment.

2007 was a great run by a team that just continued to find a way to win with great defense and unbelievable special teams. 2009 team had two of the biggest wins in our history, but I had bigger expectations that year with the level of talent we had on the roster. For me its a toss up, but I'm going w/ the 2009 because the way we finished the season by putting a beat down on a solid SEC program!

2009 was the best team. Had the best talent across the roster of any UConn team. Same overall record as the 2010 team against a much better schedule in a year that the Big East was a much better conference. Was in every game with a chance to win. Didn't lose to Temple.

2007 is a close second. More wins, but weren't in the same universe as most of the better teams that they faced.

I think the 2009 team that beat South Carolina in the bowl was playing the best of any UConn team we've ever seen.

I think you could have put that team up against the majority of the Top 25 and they would have given them all a game.

Even when most UConn teams are good, they rely on grinding it out on the ground, tough D, specials and turnovers to win.

The 2009 team could just line up and beat people.

I definitely agree with this. I'll remember the highs and lows of that 2009 team for as long as I'm alive. Such a diverse, punishing offense and a defense that got better and better and better with each game, even despite losing an NFL-bound player.

As for Endres, if he had stayed clean and continued to progress at the same rate into 2010, like he did from the Cincinnati game in '08 through all of '09, does anyone think we'd be in the AAC right now?

Yeah, that was the most talented team, by far.

I agree that the '07 co-champs was a really good unit.

I agree that the 2009 team was probably best. But let me put in a word for the 2010 team. It had some issues early, clearly. Quarterback controversies, injuries, Endres' issues, but that team won 5 games in a row down the stretch when a loss of any one would have put them away. And they won a couple in dramatic fashion...going on 4th down against Pitt. A 52 yard field goal with 15 seconds left to seal the deal at South Florida. That was the team we expected to see from day one of the season. Unfortunately it took them until the half way point to get it together.

I agree, if they would have not lost sure wins against Temple and Rutgers, that would have been a 10-win team.
