Best settings in U.S. pro sports?

What stadium/arenas do you think are in the best setting?

It could include the view from home plate, or the location of an indoor arena in the perfect part of the city.

I'm guessing that baseball will be the easy first option, but try to be clever. For example, although it lacks beauty there is something transylvania-like about narrow route 1 leading up to Gillette. Its like the Elsinore Brewery of the NFL (and I'm not a Pats fan)

There really isn't much criteria except keep it in the US and keep it pro. Oh, and no golf courses.
 
I think PNC Park is the nicest park in the MLB. I love the backdrop and I also loved driving in through the tunnel and coming out the other side to the view of the city.

That said? I've never experienced anything like Lambeau Field. It really is a cathedral and the area around it is a time capsule. I will never feel the same about another football stadium after that experience.
 
Have not been to enough venues.

1. Fenway and Wrigley proximity to the field from the box seats is pretty unique. Both have very festive atmospheres outside the park, it's a party. Walkability for a lot of residents is outstanding. Also, rich in history.
2. Dodger Stadium is huge and you enter at the top, it's indeed a ravine (Chavez Ravine). It's more or less underground on the infield side. Really cool place.
3. Arrowhead is big and loud. It was the exact same design as the old Giants Stadium but with more capacity in the corners. The tailgate is staggering for BBQ fans, people towing whole offset smokers and roasting whole hogs.
4. Superdome is an urban stadium in a city full of crazy drunks. I haven't been in, but I've been on the street cars on game day and that is a scene all by itself.

Not sure any basketball/hockey venue is really all that different or interesting. Too generic.

The only thing I'd say about the setting of Gillette is really that in the fall, it's pretty. There's a large cranberry bog behind it. Lots of trees, which is unusual. You do get a nice view from inside.

Happen been to many that I thought were that cool, tbh. That being said the entire vibe of Wrigley, inside and out, is totally unique. The old Boston Garden also had some sort of special sauce with it although it was a dump.

On a personal note, I played at Muzzy Field in Bristol a number of times and that place is awesome.
 
I know you said keep it pro, but I just had to share the field of Point Loma Nazarene Univ here in San Diego. MLB named it the prettiest field in the country. That's the Pacific Ocean, about 100 feet below, and as pretty as this picture is, it doesn't really do it justice!

Petco Park and everything you can access within a 15 minute walk from the stadium in downtown SD

I guess one could argue Wrigley (I’ve never been) and its surrounding neighborhood but Petco itself doesn’t have a bad line of sight and obviously weather is always perfect.

Wow that is an amazing view. I wonder how the hitters feel when they have to deal with onshore winds. Must make it pretty hard to hit one out in those conditions.

I was gonna list this. Petco is awesome

I think that all the California baseball stadiums rank up there with the best. It may not have as scenic a backdrop as Dodger Stadium, but the BigA is one of the cleanest, most accessible stadiums I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. They had about 30 windows for will call or ticket sales and Every Single One of them was manned by an agent. Zero Lines

Oakland Coliseum was lousy.
Candlestick was at least in a pretty setting, but it was just so cold, even on a hot day.

Really bad seating in some parts of both of them because they were dual-use. I think we've learned the football stadiums make bad baseball fields.

True. Candlestick was in such a unique location. I could see how it would be hit by winds from all sides.

Rogers Centre had a great view back in the day when folks would open the curtains to their hotel room and perform live sex acts for the crowd.

I'm partial to PNC. I loved the rooftop seats at Fenway. And I've only had one Old Style tallboy in my entire life, which I had to do to get the full Wrigley experience. I agree that the Big A is an unheralded gem. I loved that just inside the main entrance was a giant sit down cocktail bar. It is ridiculously easy to access, and while the landscaping is fake, it does look nice. I think as far as location goes, Petco is best. So much good food and drink on the other side of the OF wall.

I have been to LA probably 10 times. The Dodgers have never been home. I doubt I'll ever get there now.

The coldest I ever was at a ballpark was a day game Candlestick. I went in July wearing shorts and a sweatshirt and the temperature was in the 60's. The problem was the wind was blowing and it felt like 40 degrees and shivered throughout the entire game. On top of that, I ended up with a sun burn because the sun was so strong.

Thankfully you weren't there for the 89 world series game. You would've had a bad weather event trifecta

I partially started this thread because of PNC. I think it's number 1 in all sports. But I know I would've stolen your thunder if I led off with it.
