One of my favorite memories about the place was when I was picking a jury for a case to be tried in the Ansonia/Derby courthouse around 20 years ago. Judge asks the jury pool if anyone has a hardship that would prevent them from serving on a jury for a case that would last 2-3 weeks. Guy raises his hand and says he is the chef at Roseland. A hush comes over the courtroom and the judge looks at counsel for both sides and says, "We have to let this guy go, right?" Both of us respond immediately: "Yes, your Honor."
