There is a free paper called 'TheSportsDept.com". The March 2013 issue has a lengthy and interesting article on Somers High junior Diandra DaRosa. The article is available online only if your register.
I'll pass on a few thoughts expressed in the article here.
A scoring point guard....very athletic....passing her forte...can shoot from trey-land and take it to the basket.
This past year she averaged around 23 points per game....11 rebounds..8 steals and 8 assists.
She was the top frosh in Rhode Island and came to Somers last year as a soph. Her high school coach says her basketball IQ is high..she has excellent court sense...can do things nobody can teach.
I had heard that the level of school recruiting her was mid-majorish....UHart among them. Now it seems that such as Louisville and Syracuse are looking at her. It does sound like she is kinda 'blowing up'....a la a certain guard from Ossining about 18 months ago.
It sounds like she really works at her game and wants to play at a high level in college...and beyond.
It seems that she is looking at a variety of scenarios for her senior year....Somers? IMG Academy in Florida? Prep schools in New England?
We know that UConn is still looking at guards from the class of 2014....we have Ekmark but there was a report that one of our coaches went to see Sadie Edwards at Blair Academy. I'm hoping that we take a peek at Diandra during AAU ball.
