Best Dunkers in UConn history?

My dunkin' memory sucks, I'm going with high-flying hair-raising Andre.

Many of us will remember certain dunks for a number of reasons even though a particular player isn't known for dunks. And that's OK.

I still think Bouknight deserves more credit. He wasn't tearing down rims, only played 43 games, played during covid nightmare. At 6'5" he had the size for flight, the timing, a certain style and made it look so easy. If he had played just one more year with the 21-22 team...

The dunk vs ECU at 46 seconds is just ridiculous. One of my favorite UConn dunks of all-time alongside Stanley Robinson's alley oop vs Texas

It's hard because there have been so many great athletes that have gone through the program. I'm glad to see Depriest get some love on the board.

I wouldn't change my list, but just because everyone who was pretty good and beyond gets mentioned, Ty Martin had a few impressive dunks after transferring to UConn as well. I remember just in the Mich. St. game he had 3 or 4 big dunks and I'm glad to see him having some success in the NBA now.

Wish we didn't have to only imagine what a Toraino Walker 4 year highlight real would look like as well.

emotion, flair, speed, violence. Dunks that change the feel of a game are how I approach it.
Andre, Ray, Sticks, K Free, any order you like. Lots of other greats, but the bigger guys don't look as dramatic doing it.
Boatright gets an honorable mention for his size.

The best UConn dunker ever isn’t in the bracket??? Norm Bailey isn’t in the bracket and he was the best ever and it isn’t even close. I’m not wasting my time to pick the 2nd best dunker ever. Lol

This is fun.
For me, Sticks was the best dunker in UConn History. His half court ally-oop vs. Texas is forever etched into my brain and would take home the trophy. RIP.
A case could be made for a number of them though.

The biggest take away for me. The Donyell dunk vs the Jackson dunk. Donyell was grazed by the defender and it was an and one. Jackson was assaulted mid air both body and arm contact and by then we were not getting a call from the refs unless there was a broken bone involved. Jackson was absolutely hammered on the dunk no call play on. Just ridiculous. That was my main take away.

And it has to be Sticks but the poster who mention Stormin Norman has a point..

Makes you wonder if there were any players who played from 1967-76 that could have made this list if dunking wasn't against the rules.

Um, I mentioned him in #7 post in this thread. He is HANDS DOWN the best dunker we’ve ever had. This thread is a classic example of casual fans vs longtime fans.
I mean, I consider myself a longtime fan but I wasn't even alive when Norm Bailey played lmao

It was 45 years ago man...

Yeah, but what bugs me is he isn’t even in the bracket. That’s a disgrace. It’s on par with saying Dom Perno was a better coach than Calhoun. Surely there there must be some old timers like myself who also remember Perno telling Dick Galliette that NB had already destroyed three baskets in the Field House. Corny, McKay and Bailey made a very formidable front court.

I remember three UConn dunks that can o ly be described as jaw dropping, hundreds of others were awesome but these were in a different class.

Bailey against Nova in my junior year in college (probably very early 1981) where it looked like he launched from about 15 feet out, a little to the right of the FT circle. It was similar to a David Thompson dunk.

Ray as a freshman against Virginia (he basically announced his presence) when he seemed to explode from the court, flew by a couple defenders and jamed it.

Rudy as a freshman (may have been against Indiana) when it appeared that he changed direction in mid air to grab an offensive rebound where the ball appeared to be too far behind him to grab it, then windmilled it into the basket.
