Ollie needs to teach him a lesson. If you don't pass you don't play. His selfishness is out of control

Agreed and we really need to work on shot selection.
Agreed. Making a wide open three might help. Or just any shot. If you don't pass, you better make a damn shot .

You want him to pass with shot clock running down? Crazy.

His shot is off tonight. It happens. You can't say his shots haven't been wide open. He's cold.

It is not just his shooting. He has the ball on a 3 on 1 fastbreak and insists on taking it himself and causing a turnover. He needs to step up his game mentally!

Is he allergic to a mid range shot? I certainly love it when he's on, but his misses are real bricks.

I was screaming at the TV after that one. Very selfish play. Even my 12 year old son was yelling for Omar to give up the ball.

He does need to improve his all around game, especially seeing the court better, but with that said, he just had a bad game. He's in there to knock down Js, and they simply weren't falling. We're a handful of games in. Let's give it some time.

As for tonight's game, I think KO should have left him on the bench realizing it simply wasn't his game. He put him out there one or two times too much.

Omar has been shooting midrange floaters all season. He put up one today that was a total brick. He was just out of sorts - lousy game for him all the way around.

But the Boneyard still doesn't seem to want to allow a player a little chance to work through a slump. We threw DD under the bus a couple games ago, now Omar, and an anti-Boat undercurrent is always there.

If it was up to us, we would run out of players and have to enter Bazz, Giff and Brimah in a 3-on-3 tournament.

If Niels were to get some additional early minutes, he might be able to knock in a couple of threes and set us up for success.

I like Kromah and Niels in during winning time on defense with Boat subbing in on offense.

Look at the box sheet zeros all across the board except for one shot made. He is a one dimensional player who can shoot and that is it. I rather see giffey starting and oc being our microwave off the bench. I think that is the perfect role for him.

I'm not convinced that it is selfishness though...rather lack of confidence in his own ability to dribble and pass.

Poor decision in any case.

I didn't see that as selfish, he thought he'd have the best chance of scoring by not passing. Ya it got stripped and we can say the other guy would have had a layup had omar passed, but at some point you have to keep a defender honest by taking the ball to the rack yourself ya know?

This may be Ollie's plan at crunch time.

I don't really want to see Olander stepping out trying 3's.
when we are running plays to get Olander open in the corner vs Giffey, Calhoun, or Boathright, something is off.
That said, Olander had a better chance of hitting that shot than Calhoun hitting the broadside of a barn last night.

I don't know if its just me but I feel like every time UConn plays in NYC Calhoun comes out super tight. Feel like he always starts terribly. Maybe the moment gets to him as he's a "hometown" boy? He just never recovered last night. A little confidence goes a long way. (See Giffey)

It isn't that it was a designed play where we were trying to get TO a shot - it was just spacing the floor and a guard finding an open man. The defense is usually going to give us that one, though.

I feel the same way, he hit some shots against MD but even in that game he airballed 2 3 point shots in the beginning of both halves. Besides the open 3s he missed last night he found his way in the lane for a nice midrange shot/floater and shot it like it was being shot out of a cannon. Other than the 3 on 1 take he had last night I didn't really have an issue with the way he was playing, the 3s he took were in the flow of the offense and a result of running good O(despite the board's insistence that UConn didn't run any offense last night).

I think Giffey should get more minutes and they should come from Calhoun and Boat
