Back in the starting lineup tonight and has 42 points through three quarters including 8-8 from three point range. He hasn't had a big game in a while.

Awesome, love Ben's game. Is Detroit still an NBA team, though?

9-9 now; I could spend all day in the gym and probably not hit 9 nba range threes in row.

I think the 8-1 assist to TO ratio is more impressive. Maybe he should be playing more minutes Detroit.

how do you lose after that performance, the pistons are sooo bad. I feel bad for ben along with emeka and kemba for the dismal teams they play on

Greg monroe was doing the hokey pokey instead of trying to get that missed free throw; good times.

Ben had a bad foul to set that up, but if Monroe had blocked out, he would've dodged that bullet ona missed FT. Thought his game-winner was in, but at least it was a 2 so he kept his 9-9 record in tact.

I think he may have missed one towards the end other than the last shot(box doesn't have it though might have been a two), in any case good game by ben. He didn't quite do it justice at the end of the forth but still hope we see more of vintage Ben Gordon.

And the reason he was in the starting lineup is that Rodney Stuckey got hurt.

I'll add to the chorus of "I wish he and the Bulls had worked things out"

The one he missed from the right wing was a step inside the line. You never know what the stat crew says, though - haven't seen the final box score to make sure it still says 9-9.

Imagine what a player he would have been if when he got in the doghouse, he quit.

Dumbest trade was the bulls getting rid of him. That team would be scary with him now

Yep, its a shame it didn't work out with the Bulls or Ben hasn't found his way onto a contender like the Magic, Memphis, Dallas, Lakers, (gulp) Heat or others that could use either a microwave scorer off the bench or a legit 2 guard.

Ben is one of those guys where, to be consistently useful, he needs to be alongside a big PG, or would need another 3-4 inches.

He's not as committed to defense as he should be--and even if he were, either he or the point guard would be constantly matched up in a mismatch.

And so rather than being a career 18-20 ppg scorer, the best he can be used for is a microwave player off the bench. Very useful, very good at times, but ultimately streaky because things depend so much more on the matchups.

Its sucks that BG is on a bad team but lets be real, ever since he got his money he's played terribly. His salary means he would be an unlikely trade piece regardless but it's not like he's actually played up to his past standards to justify what he's being paid. Same goes for CV who has fallen off the face of the Earth.

His entire time in Detroit, Stuckey has been the pg, and now you have Knight who is also a big PG. He just hasn't produced.

Detroit's guards consist of Ben Gordon, Brandon Knight, Rodney Stuckey and Will Bynum.

Not a single one of them is a PG. Stuckey or Knight may bring the ball up the court and start the offense but at best they are tweeners.

Stuckey averages 4.2 APG and 2.1 TOPG in 31.8 MPG or 5.3, and 2.6 per/40
Knight averages 3.7 APG and 2.5 TOPG in 32.4 MPG or 4.6 and 3.1 per/40
Gordon averages 2.6 APG and 2.3 TOPG in 28.1 MPG or 3.7 and 3.3 per/40
Bynum averages 1.4 APG and 1.3 TOPG in 12.3 MPG or 4.6 and 4.2 per/40

In total that is 11.9 APG, 8.2 TOPG in 104.6 MPG. Let's contrast with some other players and per minute stats:

Player A: 4.0 APG and 1.8 TOPG in 27.2 MPG or 5.9 and 2.6 per/40
Player B: 7.9 APG and 4 TOPG in 37 MPG or 8.5 and 4.3 per/40
Player C: 11.0 APG and 3.7 TOPG in 32.5 MPG or 13.5 and 4.6 per/40

All three of those players have better assist numbers than anyone on the Pistons per 40 and Player A and C have much better A/To numbers. Player B has about the same as Stuckey.

That's Kemba Walker (back up PG on the worst team in the NBA), John Wall (starting PG for 3rd worst team in the NBA) and Steve Nash (the best passing PG in the NBA). Fun thing is that Nash averages almost as many APG in 32.5 MPG as those four Piston guards do combined in 104.6 MPG, while averaging less than 50% of the TO's.

Heck just looking at Stuckey and Knight's numbers they combine for 7.9 assists and 4.6 TO's in 64.2 minutes. It takes them an additional 27.2 minutes to reach the John Wall numbers (slightly worse with TO's). I'm not saying John Wall is a bad PG, but he isn't an all-star, nor an all NBA player.

End of story, Knight and Stuckey are horrid PG's and Ben is worse. The ideal player to put next to Ben would be Jason Kidd who is tall and actually a PG.
