2nd highest scoring NBA game. I'm unfamiliar with NBA superstars and not sure if he is considered one. This is a generational individual performance.

Passing Kobe with these stats (half those points in free throws) is incredible:

The game plan at the half was to go for the record. That is after he scored 43 in the first half. The “wizards don’t play defense, but they are still an nba team” was what he said when interviewed by SVP after the game.

There is a split between heavy criticism and “well why not if you can”. If you are criticizing the achievement then maybe these individual performances are more representative of the circumstances of the game (weak opponents) then they are a symbol of a players greatness.

I guess good for him but I dont know how this record is going to help his legacy. Most won’t care for it.

That’s fine, it’s like going to a show in NYC you can enjoy it, but it’s already played out.

Kobe and the Lakers were down 14 at the half. He was 28-46 from the court and only went to the line 20 times more than half less than Bam. Sorry he didn’t deserve to be thought of as the 2nd most points in a game ever, like Kobe did, no way but that’s just me.
 
They should have subbed him out when he was 1 point shy of the great Koby Bryant out of respect for Kobe and the game. 36 points from the line with the clock stopped. 43 shots attempted
