Begrudgingly, the AAC getting Football nods

As much as many here want to shoot arrows at this Hybrid we ended up in ... the Football writers (of course, led by Houston's success) are raising their opinion of this conference. Even if it may cease to be a force within months. Read various Texas writers and see that the AAC gets due.

And we have to admit, this slate of Navy, Houston, Cincy, USF, Temple coming up for us PLUS the rise that we may see from Tulsa or UCF or SMU ... leaves a formidable conference where even the formerly struggling Tulane & Memphis has good horizons.

Not destined to be long term. UConn has set this course for Football, this is a tough neighborhood.

If UConn can dominate this conference(with Houston still in it) then they deserve a look from the P-5 and I don't see them selling out the house till they do start to dominate. "Win and your in"!! It worked for Louisville, looks like it'll work for Houston.

I don't recall how Louisville was performing back when they got the ACC call but I know we beat them at their place. I don't think they were a juggernaut at the time. But I give them credit, they are very good now.

Yes, we beat them in 2012 when Bridgewater was their QB. They were 11-2 that year and won the Sugar Bowl, pretty convincingly. In 2010 and 2011 they were 7-6, winning one and losing one bowl game. Those were Charlie Strong's first two seasons. Prior to Strong they had three bad seasons under Steve Kragthorpe, but the four seasons prior to that they were excellent, winning the Orange Bowl in 2006 and had a couple of one loss seasons. The ACC probably discounted the Kragthorpe blip because he was already long gone when they made their decision. Strong was probably seen as an up and comer.

The fact that Houston is 6th in the AP poll and Navy is trending means a ton.
